Security Solutions Engineer
Data and Application Protection Infrastructure team is responsible for maintaining and operating services that protect web applications, critical servers and databases within GSK infrastructure. The services we operate are of a global nature, providing service solutions to multiple business units, totaling over 100,000 users located around the world. Thus, one of our team’s role is to communicate efficiently with all the stakeholders and customers in different countries. The new Security Solutions Engineer will become a member of our agile and strong team and his role will be to cooperate with the team to monitor, analyze, configure, deploy, improve and report on those services to ensure they meet the needs of the business, function well within the GSK environment, are cost effective and align with the strategic direction of the service line. The Security Solutions Engineer will be responsible for analyzing user reported incidents and requests, finding patterns, forecasting trends, ensuring each service operates properly, meets the SLA and aligns with the changing needs of the business. Security Solutions Engineer will provide recommendations for improvements and optimizations based on his experience and analytical insight into current operations and processes.

Key Responsibilities will be:

  • Manage Web Application Firewalls on premise and in the cloud

  • Manage Database Activity Monitoring and Firewalling systems

  • Provide value as part of an Cyber Security Strategy and Solutions team by delivering security infrastructure maintenance, analysis and deployment tasks and participating in complex security infrastructure projects

  • Implement technical and business requirements for application and data protection solutions, participate in project design, documentation and reporting processes

  • Participate actively in Incident and Change Management processes

  • Provide services based on GxP, ITIL and Agile methodology

  • Facilitate complex technology changes on multiple platforms with global customers

  • Collaborate effectively across global service teams and across boundaries

  • Provide recommendations for continuous improvement opportunities based on data

  • Take part in investigations related to unauthorized activities on key assets (externally facing servers, critical infrastructure and data)

  • Escalate and participate in service issues, where appropriate, with service management

Basic Qualifications:

We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in computer science, information systems and/or related areas (Data Analytics, Information Technology, Information Security, Computer Networks)

  • Knowledge of network topology and security to include data analysis, operating system attributes and other industry best practices related to cyber security strategies

  • Strong technical experience including Databases, Windows, Linux/Unix and Cloud as well as centrally managed security systems

  • Experience in creating security systems’ policies and rules, alert analysis, triage. Participation in Security Incident management

  • Strong communication skills, detail oriented in both written and verbal communication
     

Preferred Qualifications:

If you have the following characteristics, it would be a plus:

  • CISSP, OSCP, SSCP, CompTIA Network+ or Security+, CEH
