GSK Pharma Company is looking for a highly skilled and experienced AI/ML Enterprise Architect to join its Enterprise Architecture team.  The Enterprise Architecture team is responsible for defining and implementing the enterprise-wide technology roadmap, ensuring that technology solutions align with the business objectives of the organization.  The AI/ML Enterprise Architect will be responsible for developing and implementing the company’s AI and ML strategies and will work closely with other members of the Enterprise Architecture team to ensure that all technology solutions are aligned with the company’s overall architecture principles.

  • This is a senior role as Enterprise Architect – AI/ML domain for the Global Tech Enterprise Architecture function at GSK reporting to the Head of Enterprise Architecture. The Enterprise Architect for AI/ML domain will be responsible for setting the organisations AI/ML vision, strategy and roadmap to enable an AI/ML driven organisation where data is a strategic enterprise asset that can be leveraged by everyone in the organisation to derive insights specific to their own context.

  • This role will lead the AI/ML architecture community with responsibility for role definition, methods, practices, tools and professional development. Community members will be embedded within the delivery teams where they will map, structure and document AI/ML architecture as well as create and maintain various language models.

  • This role will work closely with executive level stakeholders across Digital Technology and Innovation as well as the Business to advise on AI/ML solutions to business problems and opportunities, leveraging modern architecture practices. They will create and maintain the AI/ML architecture knowledge base and repository, working closely with stakeholders to ensure that assets are re-used and aligned where necessary.

  • The Enterprise Architect for AI/ML domain is responsible for the AI/ML architectural leadership / strategy for an entire domain of activity and is the organization’s top architectural resource in their respective competency (domain).  Advises CTO, Global Tech business units, Global Platform & Technology (GP&T) and head of Enterprise Architecture on matters of AI/ML technology architecture planning and execution.  Work with AI/ML and technology leaders globally and ensures the alignment of the AI/ML strategy to the broader organization's mission, strategy / objectives, capabilities, and processes using industry recognized architectural models and roadmaps. Expands the company's use of AI/ML as a strategic enabler of goals and objectives, realizing global business benefits whilst empowering local service innovation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement the company's AI and ML strategies: The AI/ML Enterprise Architect will be responsible for developing and implementing the company's AI and ML strategies, which will involve working with various stakeholders within the organization to identify key business areas that could benefit from AI and ML solutions. The AI/ML Enterprise Architect will also be responsible for developing the roadmap for the implementation of these solutions.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams: The AI/ML Enterprise Architect will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including data scientists, software developers, and business analysts, to develop and implement AI and ML solutions that meet the company's business objectives. The AI/ML Enterprise Architect will work closely with other members of the Enterprise Architecture team to ensure that all technology solutions are aligned with the company's overall architecture principles.

  • Design and develop AI/ML solutions: The AI/ML Enterprise Architect will design and develop AI/ML solutions, ensuring that they are scalable, reliable, and secure. The AI/ML Enterprise Architect will also be responsible for evaluating and selecting appropriate technologies for AI and ML solutions.

  • Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations: The AI/ML Enterprise Architect will ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations related to AI and ML solutions. This will involve staying up-to-date with the latest developments in the field and ensuring that the company's solutions are compliant with all relevant regulations.

  • Identify and mitigate risks: The AI/ML Enterprise Architect will identify and mitigate risks associated with the development and implementation of AI and ML solutions. This will involve working closely with other members of the Enterprise Architecture team to identify potential risks and develop appropriate mitigation strategies.

  • Provide technical guidance and support: The AI/ML Enterprise Architect will provide technical guidance and support to other members of the Enterprise Architecture team, as well as to other teams within the organization. This will involve staying up-to-date with the latest developments in AI and ML technologies and providing guidance on their implementation.

  • Working with security and risk leaders to anticipate and mitigate the consequences of potential manipulation risks, such as training data poisoning, AI model theft and adversarial samples.

  • Responsible AI is becoming an important business issue and is critical in engendering trust in AI systems. Architects should embed the ethical dimension into AI design and implementation for clear explainability and accountability. In addition, AI architects need to stay on top of upcoming regulations and map it to AI systems.

Why You?

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science

  • 8+ years of experience in AI and ML solution development and implementation.

  • Experience in developing and implementing AI and ML strategies.

  • Understanding of industry standards and regulations related to AI and ML solutions.

  • Experience with AI and ML technologies, programming languages such as Python and R, and data analysis tools such as Tableau.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Understanding of regulations that impact the Pharma industry (e.g., GxP, GDPR / Schrems, Sarbanes Oxley).​

  • Understanding of core AI/ML technology platform & operational technology in R&D, Vaccine, manufacturing and supply chain environments. ​

  • Any Cloud data/AI/ML (Azure, Google, AWS) and EA certification is preferred (eg TOGAF) but not mandatory

  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to communicate technical information to non-technical stakeholders.

  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to identify and mitigate risks associated with AI and ML solutions.

  • Ability to create leading and practical AI/ML architectural principles and disciplines

  • Experience in technology architecture of cloud-based AI/ML, analytics and/or big data solutions and development of such solutions in a world-class innovative company.

  • Experience in seeking the alignment of business and IT, driving common approaches, delivering sustainable, re-usable solutions using both agile and waterfall. Demonstrated ability to drive change and challenge the status quo

  • Ability to work in close partnership with other IT functions such as IT, security, compliance, infrastructure, etc. as well as partner closely with business stakeholders across global tech organizations to maintain the architecture in line with AI/ML strategy

  • Excellent senior stakeholder management

  • Able to demonstrate AI/ML technical breadth across Enterprise AI/ML Technology portfolio. ​
