Position Highlights:

  • Position: Sterile Processing Educator
  • Location: Skokie Hospital
  • Full Time/Part Time: Full Time
  • Hours: Monday-Friday, 12:00noon-8:30pm
  • Required Travel: Occasional travel maybe required amongst North Region Campuses to include: Skokie Hospital, Evanston Hospital, Highland Park Hospital, Glenbrook Hospital, Swedish Hospital and Northwest Community Hospital

What you will do:

Under the supervision of the Sterile Processing Quality and Education Manager, The Sterile Processing Educator is responsible for the planning and development of the department’s curriculum for the onboarding of staff’s development/training and continue appraisal of staff’s capacity to adhere to documented policies and procedures within the Sterile Processing Department.

Responsibilities and Essential Functions

Conducts and documents orientation for new hires, annual compliance, and policies Plan, develop, implement education and training to improve staff competency including preparation, facilitation, and follow up. Act as subject matter expert in the following areas of Sterile Processing: decontamination, tray assembly, sterilization, case carts, HLD, loaner instrumentation, supplies, and other duties assigned. Conducts competency evaluations through skill demonstration and written assessments to determine areas for performance improvement. Provides feedback to the Supervisors and SPD Manager regarding orientation, trainings, and educational opportunities of staff members. Conducts all task as noted as a Sterile Processing Lead Tech/Supervisor

What you will need:

  • Education: High School Diploma or GED
  • Certification: CBSPD and or HSPA or CST Certification
  • Experience: 1-3 years of related Sterile Processing experience. Basic writing, reading, and mathematical skills, essential basic knowledge of surgical instruments, infection control practices, and sterilization techniques. Requires accuracy and attention to record detail; must be able to prioritize changes and have the ability to modify accordingly.
