Team Overview:

The Risk Regulatory Engagement team ensures the Independent Risk organization maintains a strong and productive engagement model with critical regulators, including the Federal Reserve, OCC and FDIC.  The team proactively manages the execution of regulatory engagements on behalf of the Independent Risk organization, which includes exams, ongoing supervisory meetings and requests as well as responses to supervisory letters. The team partners closely with subject matter experts within the Risk Stripes to:

  • Oversee and coordinate regulatory examinations to ensure the Independent Risk teams are organized and proactively addressing regulatory requests and concerns;

  • Manage ongoing supervisory regulatory interactions, including meetings and information requests, to strengthen regulatory relations;

  • Produce thematic summaries to Senior Management on regulatory interactions and developments to provide insight and advice;

  • Conduct exam readiness assessments to ensure the organization proactively self-identifies issues and documentation is ready for submission;

  • Support the development of appropriate and comprehensive responses and remediation plans when regulatory issues and concerns are identified; and

  • Work closely with partners in other Businesses and Functions, to ensure consistent and clear communications to regulators.

Position Objective:

The objective of this role is to support Senior Management within Independent Risk through the preparation of thematic reporting on regulatory activities, coordination of strategic content for regulatory and rating agency meetings, and driving excellence in regulatory interactions.  The role will support the broader Risk Regulatory Engagement team ensure Senior Management remain informed of regulatory developments in addition to supporting the team’s mandate for a proactive and consistent approach to regulatory engagements.  The position will require a sound understanding of US banking regulators (OCC and FRB), a background in Risk Management, and/or significant project management and stakeholder engagement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Produce reports to Senior Executives on regulatory engagements and key thematic findings to promote awareness of regulatory expectations and concerns.

  • Coordinate and develop briefing materials, meeting presentations and talking points for Regulatory Meetings and meetings with Ratings Agencies. This includes conducting relevant prep sessions to ensure senior stakeholders are well informed and engaged on upcoming activities.

  • Maintain team guidelines on best practices for regulatory exam management, presentations, and submissions to drive consistency and excellence in execution.

  • Manage core administrative activities for the Risk Regulatory Engagement team including maintaining common tools, control monitoring, record retention and internal reporting on activities. 

  • Conduct analysis to understand activities, trends and volume of work associated with Regulatory Engagement Activities for Independent Risk. This includes analyzing trends and proposing solutions to better support regulatory activity.

  • Assist exam readiness practices to enable the Independent Risk organization to be more prepared for regulatory reviews.

  • Support and advise team members on the execution of administrative requirements associated with Regulatory Engagements.

  • Assist in ad hoc high priority regulatory projects to support broader needs of the Independent Risk organization.  

  • Establish effective working relationships and partner with key stakeholders and subject matter experts across Independent Risk to ensure a more integrated approach to regulatory engagements

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree with 6-10 years relevant experience in either financial services, Banking, Risk management, Consulting, Strategy and Operations, with preference given to supervision and regulation experience within or exposure to Federal Reserve System or OCC.

  • Understanding and/or ability to quickly learn of relevant regulatory and supervisory expectations, risk management disciplines, and priorities for large complex financial institutions.

  • Experience in preparing senior executive level presentations and reporting.   

  • Excellent written, verbal, and analytical skills, with the ability to articulate complex problems and solutions through concise and clear messaging.

  • Experienced in project management with strong attention to detail, team oriented, and organized.

  • Pro-active problem-solver who works well in high-pressure, fast-paced environments.

  • High proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly PowerPoint for presentation development, and Word for briefing materials. Excel for basic to intermediate development of metrics.

  • Comfortable navigating complex, highly matrixed organizations.

  • Strong interpersonal skills for interfacing with all levels within the organization, including senior management, using a proactive and 'no surprises' approach in communicating issues/requests.

  • Adaptable mindset, with an ability to seek and implement feedback and maintain flexibility to pivot and course correct, as needed.

$142,320.00 - $213,480.00
