Verition Fund Management LLC (“Verition”) is a multi-strategy, multi-manager hedge fund founded in 2008.  Verition focuses on global investment strategies including Global Credit, Global Convertible, Volatility & Capital Structure Arbitrage, Event-Driven Investing, Equity Long/Short & Capital Markets Trading, and Global Quantitative Trading.

This role is for a seasoned senior network engineer who can manage all facets of our trading, datacenter, office and remote branch multinational (global) network.  Ideal candidate can communicate clearly, effectively, adhere to process, procedures and follow standards in a fast pace, demanding environment. 

Responsibilities:

  • Network design, implementation and support of multi-vendor global trading network.
  • Contribute to greenfield buildouts of colocation and proximity datacenters.
  • Meet with stakeholders for project related items and identify key priorities.
  • Manage multicast market data feeds for all exchanges and support algorithmic traders.
  • Manage the firm’s security perimeter with primarily Palo Alto firewalls. Must be able to build site-to-site VPN tunnels and implement strict security policies.
  • Support PTP and NTP timing infrastructure.
  • Develop automation scripts to increase efficiency and identify areas of improvement.
  • Configure F5 Local Traffic Manager and Global Traffic Manager for IP and DNS load balancing.
  • Manage firm browsing policy using Cisco Umbrella DNS Essentials.
  • Analyze packet captures using sniffers, tcpdump, and Wireshark.
  • Document all aspects of the network using MS Visio and Confluence.
  • Monitor service-now user request queue and quickly adapt priorities based on severity.
  • Buildout proper network monitoring using Splunk, Zabbix, and other NPM solutions.
  • Global circuit capacity planning.
  • Provide on-call support and troubleshooting of all things network.

Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of experience in engineering, implementation and maintenance of enterprise networks.
  • BS/MS degree or higher in computer science, networking, cybersecurity or related IT fields.
  • Deep knowledge and understanding of BGP, OSPF, PIM and IGMP including best practices.
  • Significant implementation experience with Arista, Cisco Catalyst, Nexus, and Palo Alto/Cisco ASA firewalls.
  • Thorough understanding of firewall policy administration and technologies including VPN and NAT.
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills on wide array of networking issues including LAN, WAN, and multicast.
  • Understanding of all aspects of datacenter build process including basic power consumption and cooling. Experience with Equinix desired.
  • Experience with PTP timing architecture for trading networks.
  • Experience using Linux command line utilities and ethtool.
  • Strong scripting and automation experience using python and ansible.
  • Experience implementing F5 LTM and GTM devices.

 

Salary Range
$150,000$200,000 USD
