Job Description:

Responsibilities

The Clerk II will provide clerical support to a program responsible for investigating violent deaths (i.e. homicides, suicides) in New York State for the New York Violent Death Reporting System. The incumbent will assist in the request, collection and quality review of data reported to the program; assist to ensure all required information is obtained from reporting sources, which include federal, state and county agencies, district attorney offices, and law enforcement agencies, assisting with following up via telephone and email, as appropriate, on missing or inconsistent data. The incumbent will assist to compile records based on established guidelines; enter data into the federal database (National Violent Death Reporting System); and assist in the response to data requests as needed. The incumbent will also maintain records and logs of case incident status and completeness, assist in the creation and maintenance of spreadsheets. Other appropriate clerical related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Associate's degree in a related field or higher degree in a related field; OR two years of general office, secretarial, or administrative experience.

Preferred Qualifications

At least two years of experience performing data entry.  Experience using a computer database. Experience reviewing data and/or documents for accuracy. Experience working with confidential, health-related data. Proficiency using software including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Access, Excel and PowerPoint) and Adobe Acrobat to prepare documents, graphs, slides, presentations and/or spreadsheets.

Conditions of Employment

Grant funded position. Compliance with funding requirements such as time and effort reporting, grant deliverables, and contract deliverables, is required.

Valid and unrestricted authorization to work in the U.S. is required. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

Travel, up to 10% of the time, will be required.

This position requires that the incumbent will report to the official work location and live within commuting distance to the official work location. Telecommuting will be available.
