Ciena, the global leader in high-speed connectivity, is seeking a dedicated and innovative Project Engineer to join our Field Operations team. This role is pivotal in bridging the gap between Sales Engineering and Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) projects. Your expertise will contribute to enhancing our adaptive networks and empowering clients in the AI era .

How You Will Contribute

  • Manage SIF revenue assurance and oversee inventory shipments, ensuring alignment with quarterly targets.
  • Utilize the SIF application to craft Statements of Work (SOW) for flexible resources.
  • Conduct capacity and manpower planning for operations across two facilities.
  • Drive SIF activities focused on service cost reduction and site-wide performance metrics.
  • Lead technical issue resolution and encryption processes while maintaining operational updates.
  • Validate technical orders for incoming projects and ensure seamless Sales Engineering integration during FAT projects.
  • Collaborate with Services and IT teams to pinpoint change request opportunities and optimize processes.

The Must Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Optical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3–8 years of hands-on experience in Optical/Ethernet technologies.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite and other software applications.
  • Availability to travel up to 80% and flexibility to work off-shift hours as required.
  • Proven expertise in a service-oriented organization with a strong customer-centric approach.
  • Exceptional critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication abilities, coupled with a track record of cross-functional collaboration.

Nice to Haves

  • Familiarity with Ciena’s product portfolio and ability to define technical challenges at a design level.
  • Experience in coaching and mentoring team members.
  • Applied creativity to develop innovative solutions.
  • Ability to foster valuable customer relationships and support account teams.
  • Expertise in translating complex technical issues into actionable engineering solutions.
  • Proficiency in technical troubleshooting and validation of best practices during live operations.
  • Knowledge of commissioning standards and service interruption reporting.
