· Maximize business profitability through structured procurement category management for the assigned spend categories;
· Ensure business continuity by securing supplies on the short, medium and longer term;
· Enable Clusters/regions and OpCo’s to be competitive in their respective customer markets through an effective and efficient management of supplier negotiation, selection and contracting which covers the immediate and future needs of the businesses;
· Ensure compliance with legal, ethical and sustainable code(s) of conduct;
· Develop and manage supplier relationships, as part of the business approved sourcing plans, to support business performance on costs, cash, supply continuity, quality, sustainability and innovation in the best possible way.
Procurement is responsible for the global procurement strategy and leads in defined categories (direct and indirect spend categories) by central contracting and coordination for selected operating companies (OpCo’s). In an international and collaborative way of working the Trouw Nutrition Global Procurement team has the accountability for procurement performance for Trouw Nutrition, and for selected micro ingredients categories also for Skretting. The global Procurement team is also actively involved innovation projects (= future product and concept developments), which are led by R&D and Global Marketing, and where Procurement focuses on sourcing, supplier selection and relationship management and contracting.
The Category Manager is a driving part of a category team, which varies in size and composition per category, depending on the structure of the related supply markets and the characteristics of the internal requirements. In most cases Lead Buyers, Analysts and Planners are part of the category team, all having a functional reporting line into the accountable global Category Manager.

Currently the following categories are covered by a Category Manager:
• Amino Acids
• Vitamins & Pigments
• Feed Additives & Animal Health Products
• Medicated & Enzymes
• Minerals & Trace Elements
• Dairy ingredients

Job Description:

Procurement strategy and sourcing plans for assigned categories:

o •Develops and implements the procurement strategy and related sourcing plans for a specific spend category for Trouw Nutrition, and if applicable Skretting, worldwide. Sourcing plans can include regional specific plans, are consistent with corporate policies (like sustainable sourcing) and are formally reviewed on an annual basis;

o Outlines key changes in the category sourcing plans in order to be approved by relevant Division / regions / Opco’s after review and approval by the Procurement leadership team(s);

o Accountable for the implementation of the respective category sourcing plans via the OpCo’s. Initiates and leads improvement and/or corrective actions where needed. Overall accountable for the purchase performance of the respective categories;

o Actively monitors and anticipates supply market and supplier developments in order to optimize the competitive sourcing position of the business on the medium and longer term.

Performance management:

o Monitors and optimizes the purchase performance of the category sourcing activities at global, regional and local level (Opco). Takes corrective actions when necessary

o Ensures the category delivers its annual Goals and specific category KPI’s;

o Initiates and manages structural sourcing improvement projects;

o Coordinates all the necessary global/regional actions in case of major sourcing issues (quality, volume, commercial/price);

o Ensures compliance with Corporate Policies;

o Leads virtual teams of (lead) buyers from OpCo’s and/or Global Procurement to ensure the optimal procurement performance from overall business perspective, taking into account costs, security of supply, cash, quality, sustainability and innovation requirements.

Supplier and Contract Management:

o Develops and manages key and strategic supplier relationships, as part of the business approved sourcing plans;

o Manages the ongoing business cycles of supplier selection, negotiation and contracting for all centrally managed raw materials and related suppliers, within the frameworks as defined in the approved sourcing plans;

o Ensures adequate contract management: available, accessible and traceable. Implements and manages overall framework agreements with all main suppliers within the category;

o If applicable, supports and facilitates Lead Buyer(s) in negotiations, contracting and risk management;

o Coordinates (between Lead Buyer(s)/Opco’s) and maintains effective and professional relationships with both current and potential suppliers;

o Apply vendor rating for internal and external benchmarking, within the framework of globally provided (system) solutions.

  

 Data and purchasing process management:

o Ensures collection and analysis of (global) spend, supply market and supplier data for optimising sourcing plans and related improvement actions;

o Ensure purchasing processes and practices are analysed correctly to gain insight in the drivers of efficient and effective purchasing;

o Manage data (e.g. Master Data) in (procurement/ERP) systems in order to deliver consistent management information and purchase performance;

o Effective and efficient management of all operational and tactical purchasing processes to ensure data and contracts are available on time-in full

o for the relevant OpCo’s, irrespective whether the supply is organized directly from a supplier to an OpCo or via one of the central procurement legal entities;

o Consistent and high quality reporting of supply market and price developments, also as an essential building block (Raw Material Market Costs) for OpCo’s to optimize their sales pricing;

o Ensures that purchasing processes are executed in line with legal and ethical code of conducts and respecting the applicable authorisation levels
