Mission

The Database Engineer will support the team in resolving production issues, assisting with database performance optimization, and contributing to enhancements within the existing database infrastructure. This role focuses on executing assigned database tasks, maintaining database standards, and collaborating with senior team members to improve database objects such as tables, views, stored procedures, and indexes.

First 30 Days

• Gain understanding of Invoice Cloud’s database architecture and environments
• Learn established development standards and formatting conventions
• Follow protocols when performing database changes (Inserts, Updates, Deletes)
• Participate in code reviews and incorporate feedback
• Assist in identifying performance or data integrity issues

First 90 Days

• Develop and modify stored procedures
• Complete DB requests accurately and within expected timelines
• Navigate and utilize the Azure Portal Dashboard for monitoring and support
• Understand common development considerations in Azure SQL DB
• Troubleshoot database-related issues with guidance when needed

First 180 Days

• Independently manage routine database tasks for assigned scrum team(s)
• Contribute to performance improvements (index optimization, query tuning, minor redesigns)
• Review project specifications and implement database changes
• Support roadmap initiatives in collaboration with the team

Ongoing Responsibilities

• Maintain and monitor processes critical to the Data Services department
• Debug and enhance existing stored procedures
• Ensure all changes are logged appropriately (DB or Jira)
• Monitor DB errors and resolve or escalate as needed
• Troubleshoot database connectivity and performance issues
• Support monitoring of database uptime and environment stability

The selected candidate will support database maintenance, monitoring, performance optimization, and development initiatives while collaborating closely with engineering teams.
