Compensation

Compensation includes a base salary of $144,900.00 - $241,500.00. The base salary may vary within the anticipated base pay range based on factors such as the ultimate location of the position and the selected candidate’s knowledge, skills, and abilities. Position may be eligible for additional compensation that may include an incentive program.

Job Description

The Director, Product Management will lead the Shop Operations Release Train.  In addition to owning the current suite of software solutions that support the reconditioning operations across Manheim locations, this leader will partner closely with business and operations to define the solutions required to support the growth from Reconditioning into the broader Vehicle Services offerings.  

The individual must possess a strong business acumen and ability to build partnerships in order to define the product strategy that supports the expanding business strategy. The role will require strong change leadership and team development to drive the performance of the Release Train as the strategy and the organization evolves.

On a day to day basis, the leader provides leadership and oversight to the Product Management group. The leader oversees team efforts to discover, develop and evaluate new product ideas, enhancements to existing products or strategic product extensions. The individual oversees research on the market's product requirements and identifies enhancements to current features and functionality, ensuring effective translation of data-driven discoveries into usable and marketable products. The individual establishes product specifications, and coordinates with various functions, including engineering, manufacturing, marketing and sales, to ensure successful product development and implementation.

PRIMARY DUTIES/KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Directs, monitors and evaluates the activities of managers and professional employees performing Product Management.
  • Works with business leaders to identify business and organizational requirements and assess current and anticipated levels of support.
  • Oversees and ensures effective support for a large portfolio of moderately to extremely complex product development projects.
  • Assumes end-to-end ownership of assigned product line strategy, including development, evolution and execution.
  • Monitors and provides management with end-to-end visibility across all Product Management activities, including current areas of focus, issues, budget / costs, near- and longer-term priorities and business impact.
  • Directs the development, recommendation and execution of applicable policies that meet strategic objectives and lead to process improvements.
  • Ensures that projects / products meet or exceed quality standards while not exceeding cost or time
  • Oversees messaging for new products and the development and implementation of a successful go-to-market strategy.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline and 10 years’ experience in a related field with at least 5 years’ experience in a management or lead role. The right candidate could have a different combination, such as a master's degree and 8 years’ experience; or PhD and 5 years’ experience or 22 years’ experience in a related field.
  • 4+ years’ experience in full product lifecycle methodologies.
  • 4+ years’ experience in design, development and implementation of product plans.
  • Working experience in creating, prioritizing and recommending epics and features among many conflicting goals and diverse groups.
  • Strong knowledge and experience in core business fundamentals including strategy, P&L/financials and operations
  • A servant leadership mentality with 3+ years of leading and developing high performing teams
  • Experience in leading and managing change, both in the organization and the strategy
  • Ability to build strong partnerships and influence with cross-functional stakeholders
  • Working experience in conducting competitive research and analysis.
  • Working experience in identifying KPI’s and other analytics to measure product value.
  • Prior executive level presentation experience..
  • Working experience building and leading high performing teams that consistently meet or exceed team and business goals in a fast-paced, high change, matrixed organization.
     

Specializations

  • Knowledge of the automotive industry, especially in vehicle repairs, electric vehicles, and telematics a plus.
  • Deep understanding of automotive manufacturers (OEMs) and dealership operations a plus.
  • Familiarity of AI/ML techniques a plus.
  • Skilled in analytical thinking, business acumen, project administration and management, requirements analysis and technology savvy
