Our Associate Director, Strategic Partnerships play a significant role in developing and executing strategies and methodologies essential for fostering and perpetuating research collaborations, beneficial to both UQ and its partners.
The role involves overseeing the growth and management of research collaborations, alliances, and consultancies, all in the vested interests of the university. To achieve this, the appointee will be responsible for developing and fostering relationships with key external stakeholders, federal and state government departments, industry and external funding entities. The successful candidate will also need to develop a detailed understanding of the University of Queensland’s capability and align this with external opportunities, creating translation pathways appealing to potential partners and investors.

Key responsibilities will include:
Develop and manage key strategic relationships with a broad range of senior-level government, industry, academic and international stakeholders, including influencing complex groups of stakeholders both within and external to the University.
In collaboration with academic leaders in relevant fields, coordinate the development of proposals for large scale research initiatives, including providing strategic leadership and advice regarding engaging with stakeholders, preparing funding bids, and coordinating financial and contractual arrangements, across UQ.
Provide strategic leadership and advice to meet the aims of the initiatives established in your portfolio
This is a full-time, fixed-term position for up to 3 years, at HEW level 10A.

Substantial experience in influencing and bringing together complex groups of internal and external stakeholders to develop and manage major university research and/or engagement partnership initiatives with demonstrated ability to provide strategic level advice and entrepreneurial thinking in relation to these opportunities.
Experience in negotiating and managing complex and/or sensitive projects with national strategic, political, or operational significance.
Understanding of the Higher Education system and current trends and policies influencing its direction as well as advanced manufacturing technology policy contexts.
