The Senior Patient Advocacy Manager, Screening, International is responsible for building and nurturing relationships with International patient advocacy organizations and contributing to elevating Exact Sciences as a trusted partner of choice for patients and patient organizations across the oncology community.

The Manager will work cross-functionally to ensure alignment of patient-focused programs across the business.

The role is based out of our international hub in Warsaw, Poland and reports into the international medical affairs organization.

Responsibilities / Duties:

The following are key responsibilities and elements of the role:

  • Build and maintain long term, substantive relationships with international and national patient organizations and other key stakeholders based on values of trust, respect, and transparency, acting as a point of contact for Exact Sciences.
  • Contribute to and support the development and execution of patient advocacy communication and educational strategies, plans and tactics.
  • Bring the voice of patients and advocates to address patient unmet needs and drive patient focused solutions.
  • Work cross-functionally as a strong collaborator with international and local teams including Communications, International Government Affairs, Market Access, Marketing and Medical to identify opportunities to incorporate the patient perspective.
  • Coordinate Exact Sciences engagement strategies with stakeholders at key medical congresses.
  • Contribute to and support the development and execution of patient advocacy communication and educational strategies, plans and tactics.
  • Collate and organize patient advocate insights and identify actionable opportunities to support the development and execution of Exact Sciences advocacy programs.
  • Keep abreast with industry and health care legislation. Communicate updates to the external patient communities and key internal Stakeholders.
  • Manage agencies and budgets, track progress, ensure deadlines are met, and ensure quality and compliance in communication materials.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required (minimum).
  • Fluent English is required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3-5 year’s experience in either policy and advocacy, patient advocacy,  government affairs, public affairs or public policy in private or public sector (pharmaceutical or other pertinent health care industry).
  • Proven track record of relationship building with multiple external stakeholders over many years.
  • Sensitivity to diverse groups of people both internal and external with the ability to manage many different opinions and perspectives, including tolerance for ambiguity.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills and ability to influence without authority, including demonstrated experience gaining senior-leader perspectives and support. Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to assimilate complex medical knowledge and communicate to non-medical audiences.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and cross functionally across multiple stakeholder organizations.
  • Demonstrated reputation internally and externally as a well-respected, dynamic team-player.
  • Empathic and hardworking individual with the ability to build meaningful connections with stakeholders.
  • Understanding of how public policy decisions are made and influenced.
  • Knowledge of healthcare environment key stakeholders desired but not essential.
  • Knowledge of national political and policy environment and public health policy. Understanding of funding and reimbursement systems desired.
  • Capable of handling shifting priorities in a constantly evolving environment.
  • Understands the pharma/biotech business model, regulatory process & compliance guidelines.
