Who are we you ask? We are a federally chartered corporation and one of 11 Federal Home Loan Banks (FHLBanks) that, with the Office of Finance, comprise the Federal Home Loan Bank System. The FHLBanks were chartered by Congress under the Federal Home Loan Bank Act of 1932 to improve the availability of funds to support home ownership. Each FHLBank is cooperatively owned by member financial institutions in its district and operated as a separate entity with its own management, employees, and board of directors. Our district consists of the states of Illinois and Wisconsin. We are regulated by the Federal Housing Finance Agency, an independent federal agency.

We are currently seeking a summer intern for our Data Engineering & Data Science departments. As a Data Science and Data Engineering Intern, you will work closely with our data team to analyze, process, and visualize data. You will gain hands-on experience with real-world data and contribute to projects that drive business insights and innovation. Successful Individuals should be following an academic track in data engineering, data science, computer science, engineering, mathematics, or a related field.

Position Responsibilities

• Assist in collecting, cleaning, and preprocessing data from various sources.
• Develop and implement data models and algorithms to solve business problems.
• Create data visualizations to communicate findings.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand data needs and deliver solutions.
• Support the deployment and maintenance of data pipelines and ETL processes.
• Conduct exploratory data analysis to identify trends and patterns.
• Document processes and findings for future reference.

REQUIREMENTS

• Applicants should be enrolled at an accredited four-year institution
• Should have a GPA of at least 3.0 and be in good academic standing
• Strong programming skills in Python, R, or SQL
• Desired fields of study include data engineering, data science, computer science, engineering, mathematics, or other technical discipline
• Internships will start June 2025 through August 2025.
