PRIMARY FUNCTION

StraitSys is seeking a skilled Data Engineer / SQL Server DBA to manage, optimize, and enhance our SQL Server environments. This role is responsible for designing and maintaining SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) ETL pipelines and supporting database operations across multiple environments. You will play a key role in the administration, configuration, development, and deployment of SSIS services, ensuring seamless execution of automated processes and enabling efficient data integration from various sources.

While SSIS expertise is critical for immediate projects, we value forward-thinking individuals who are eager to expand their skills, as we continue to evolve our data architecture and explore opportunities to leverage cloud-native tools. This role offers a unique opportunity to support both immediate business needs and to grow with the organization as we continually work to modernize.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • SSIS Development & Deployment: Design, develop, and maintain enterprise-grade SSIS ETL pipelines to facilitate data integration from various data sources.

  • SSIS Administration & Configuration: Install, configure, and manage SSIS environments across development, testing, and production environments. You will ensure that SSIS services are properly configured for automated execution, including security settings, service accounts, and failover capabilities.

  • Cross-Environment Deployment: Deploy SSIS-developed services across multiple environments, ensuring automated execution on the appropriate servers. You will configure, fine-tune, monitor, and support the continuous execution of ETL services.

  • Data Engineering: Perform data engineering tasks, including data cleansing, transformation, and integration, to optimize data flows and support business-critical processes.

  • Database Performance & Optimization: Monitor and optimize database performance, addressing bottlenecks in SSIS ETL workflows and/or SQL queries, and ensuring efficient use of resources across the system.

  • SQL Server Administration: Manage SQL Server instances, including backup, recovery, query optimization, performance tuning, and security management.

  • Data Pipelines & Automation: Automate data workflows using SQL Server Agent jobs, ensuring efficient execution of scheduled jobs across environments.

  • Security & Compliance: Maintain database security, encryption, and access controls, ensuring compliance with Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs), industry standards, and internal security policies. Implement and audit security configurations to ensure databases adhere to required security benchmarks and best practices.

  • Collaboration with Development Teams: Partner with application development teams to design and implement database solutions that align with business needs and application requirements.

  • Backup & Recovery: Ensure high availability and data integrity through robust backup and recovery processes, minimizing downtime.
