We are currently seeking a Technical Lead to join the Financial Crime Due Diligence (DD) capability to support the  technical design and implementation of a customer KYC (know your customer) solution, ensuring Santander UK continue to operate within it’s Financial Crime Board Risk Appetite (BRA). You will work within an Agile environment, engaging and collaborating with Product Owners, Functional/Solution and Technical Architects and across the wider Financial Crime CIO Team and colleagues from Santander Group in Madrid.      

You will be responsible for driving the solution design and technical implementation of the Financial Crime KYC project.  Defining engineering solutions through good leadership and communication with a key area of focus on providing technical and integration leadership to ensure successful adoption and implementation of the KYC solution in Santander UK.    

The difference you’ll make:

  • Reviewing and owning Product user stories/Financial Crime business requirements assessing feasibility and defining design solutions/options, working closely with Capability Lead, Product Owners and Architects in an Agile environment
  • Leading the Due Diligence KYC adoption/integration squad (including near shore colleagues from Santander Group in Madrid) – providing full product lifecycle support (design, development, Implementation, test & deployment) and post release (KBR/Production) support
  • Mentoring and developing individuals across the DD KYC adoption/integration squad on design patterns, solution design, technical integration; using your experience and demonstrating your passion to define fit-for-purpose engineering designs/solutions


What you’ll bring:

These are the essential requirements you need to be successful in this role:

  • Functional and technical leadership and the ability to mentor a squad of engineers
  • Ability to define, with the passion to ‘drive through’ design thinking/solution design activity to define scaleable solutions
  • Proactive personality bringing a ‘can do’ attitude with the ability to communicate functional and technical concepts – delivering the correct messages and status updates at the right time to the right people
  • Previous experience in a similar solution design/design thinking and squad leadership role

It would also be nice for you to have:

  • Experience of working to define solutions, lead squads and deliver project with high visibility among senior stakeholders
  • Knowledge of Financial Crime concepts, applications and customer contact/outreach processes and journeys
  • Previous experience in the Financial Services Industry

What else you need to know:

This role is based in Milton Keynes and will be working on a fixed term contract running until 31st December 2025.

To support this, we offer site-based contracts with a hybrid working pattern and our expected level of attendance in an office is at least 12 days per month (pro-rata for part-time roles).

1st Stage – Technical Interview – this will a 30min technical interview with one of the team
