Get to know Okta

Okta is The World’s Identity Company. We free everyone to safely use any technology—anywhere, on any device or app. Our Workforce and Customer Identity Clouds enable secure yet flexible access, authentication, and automation that transforms how people move through the digital world, putting Identity at the heart of business security and growth.

At Okta, we celebrate a variety of perspectives and experiences. We are not looking for someone who checks every single box - we’re looking for lifelong learners and people who can make us better with their unique experiences.

Join our team! We’re building a world where Identity belongs to you.

The Field Leadership Development team

We believe Field Leaders (Sales, Presales, and Partners and Alliances Leaders) are a critical part of Okta’s strategy. They are owners of their business, multipliers of their talent, and a trusted advisor to our customers. Their success is our success.

Okta’s Field Leader Development team designs, develops, and delivers remarkable, relentlessly contextual experiences to help FIeld Leaders do the greatest work of their lives.

We do this by first aligning ourselves to where our leaders are in their development. The candidate we seek has a strong understanding of the role of a field leader. They can take complex problems that field leaders encounter every day and distill them into easy, simple, consumable concepts that can be immediately applied on the job.

We design and develop immersive experiences that address our leaders' immediate and emergent needs. The brand of this team rests on creating engaging, ridiculously relevant learning that sticks. The candidate we seek brings a skill set of creating multi-textured (learning pods, self-guided learning, simulations, on-the-job experimentation, etc.) learning journeys that drive real behavior change. They have a strong foundation in experience design and a hunger for understanding how our field leaders behave in the flow of work.

And, of course, we deliver measurable, industry-enviable experiences with precision and best-in-class facilitation. The candidate we seek commands a room with their charisma and authentic facilitation style, pulling learners into the content. They understand the back-end logistics required to launch and scale global programs and have a strong track record of (nearly) flawless execution.

The Field Leader Productivity opportunity

Reporting to the Senior Director of Global Enablement, your mission–should you choose to accept it– is to advance the cause of helping field leaders to learn so that they can absorb, process, and act on information faster so they can more effectively lead the teams they serve.

*This role requires in-person onboarding and travel to our San Francisco, CA HQ office during the first week of employment.

What you’ll be doing

  • Work with subject matter experts to advocate and build content that aligns with the field organization’s most strategic objectives for leadership development, specifically optimizing field leader productivity and business operations
  • Command a virtual or in-person room to guide leaders through highly interactive, industry-enviable training experiences, either in a virtual classroom or in-person setting
  • Create connected leader development experiences that include ongoing reinforcement
  • Create, monitor, and report on field leadership engagement metrics for programs and activities to course correct when needed
  • Build trust and credibility with other leadership program stakeholders (in Sales Operations, HR / Talent Development) and manage a productive partnership for success
  • Assist in building and delivering virtual and in-person onboarding programs for all newly hired (or promoted) field leaders
  • Collaborate and assist as needed to deliver stellar enablement experiences for field leaders at kickoff and regional events
  • Continually improve and identify areas of opportunity for field leaders by using survey methodology, providing continuous feedback and coaching to all supporting cast members

What you’ll bring to the role & what we’re looking for

Our ideal candidate draws from their own unique experiences to demonstrate excellence in the following characteristics. (Demonstrated success in all characteristics is not required to apply; we expect the ideal candidate also to grow into the role.)

Experience: 5+ years of relevant experience in field/sales enablement, or revenue/sales operations. Experience as a first-line field/sales leader and/or direct experience working in field/sales leadership development a plus.

  • Sales Leadership SME: A healthy obsession and relentless empathy for the day-to-day reality of our field leaders, especially in how they optimize running their business. Building relationships with our customers (field leaders) during programs that can be later leveraged to deepen understanding of the business.
  • Logistics Ninja: Track record of executing large-scale programs with hundreds of participants across all time zones, including back-end operations. Has managed third-party vendor relationships.
  • Advanced Facilitator: Can deliver unscripted, improvisational-like content in addition to standard talk tracks. Has the courage to challenge learners on the spot with high-impact questions that demonstrate a baseline level of subject matter mastery. Comfortable facilitating experiences that incrementally change as learnings are rapidly implemented into the design.
  • Experience Designer: Brings a strong understanding of adult learning design that includes multi-textured learning journeys and interactivity elements. Has a constant pulse on latest research and ways that adults learn.
  • Adoption Driver: Possesses a passion for understanding how humans behave and why they do what they do with the ability to tap into motivation and design learning that drives real behavior change.
  • Execution Innovator: An innovation broker. The ability to take old solutions and apply them in new ways. The ability to take previous experiences or seemingly unrelated information and apply them to different contexts. To do this, constantly reading, constantly listening, constantly asking “How might this benefit our field leaders?”

Additional experience that we value

  • A champion of inclusion to cultivate a psychologically safe space for equity and belonging
  • Comfort operating in ambiguity and with partial information, using curiosity and high-impact questions to uncover additional information needed to move forward

  • High learning acumen, demonstrated by quickly learning and being able to teach complex concepts
  • Highly collaborative and communicative, with the ability to build trust across stakeholders
  • Exudes strong on-stage presence, with the ability to quickly build trust with learners
  • Courage to show up with a thoughtful POV and challenge perspectives, while giving and receiving constructive and honest feedback
