Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking to hire a Systems Engineering Section Manager 2 to be located in Roy, UT.
What You’ll Get To Do:
The selected candidate will be responsible for a Systems Engineering discipline Section within the SDS Systems Engineering organization and will report directly to the SDS Specialty Engineering Department Manager. You will provide career mentorship and operational support to a Functional Home Room (FHR) team (Section) of between 8 and 12 Individual Contributors (ICs) based on Engineering goals, objectives, and company policy. Key FHR responsibilities will be personnel performance management, process familiarization and training for Section members, and staffing of roles on projects.
As a Section Manager you will be expected to spend roughly 20% of your effort on Functional Homeroom responsibilities with 80% of your efforts focused on a technical assignment on an SDS project or IPT (80% technical scope not part of this requisition).
The successful candidate will be experienced in systems engineering with one or more of the following specific skills:
• Model Based Systems Engineering (Cameo)
• Requirements Management (DOORS)
• Verification Planning
• Interface definition and planning
• System Security Engineering
• Hardware Assurance
• Software Assurance
• Identification of RMF and program protection impacts for software development lifecycle as well as hardware implementation lifecycle
• COTS / MOTS manufacturing and supply chain risk management.
Essential functions include:
• Excellent communication, mentoring, interpersonal skills, and the ability to collaborate with senior management, peers, and employees.
• Provide ownership for the people, processes, and tools that support business areas and programs in achieving their missions.
• Supporting FHR efforts in areas of process improvement, training and staffing.

This positions standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off. This role may offer a competitive relocation assistance package.
You’ll Bring These Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s Degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) with 8 years of related experience, or 6 years of related experience with a Master's degree in STEM.
• Must be a US Citizen with an active U.S. Government DoD Secret security clearance at time of application with an investigation completed within the last 6 years
• Must have current Sentinel Special Access Program (SAP) access.
• 1 year of experience in System Security Engineering.
• Existing technical scope of work within the Sentinel Mission Defense Team (MDT) of the Sentinel Systems Engineering and Integration Team (SEIT) Segment.
These Qualifications Would be Nice to Have:
• Master’s degree in STEM.
• General understanding of NG Systems Engineering Processes.
• Experience with ICBMs.
• Prior experience managing/leading an engineering team to include performance reviews for direct reports.
• Minimum 1 year of demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
• 1 year of experience leading a project and/or driving performance against schedule and cost utilizing EVM techniques.
• Excellent communication, mentoring, interpersonal skills, and ability to interface with senior management, peers, and employees.
• Experience briefing high level leadership on complex issues.
• Understanding Risk Management (identification and development of risks) and driving risk mitigations to closure.
• Experience conducting threat analysis and protection initiatives.
• Experience in engaging with the intelligence community, utilizing databases, and performing research and analysis.
• Experience with Program Protection and Supply Chain Risk Management.
• Active Top-Secret clearance adjudicated within the last 5 years and ability to obtain SAP access.
