The British Columbia Investment Management Corporation (BCI) is currently seeking a Private Equity Venture & Growth Co-op Student/Intern for the Summer and/or Fall (May to August or December 2025) work terms to support the Venture & Growth team. WHO YOU WILL WORK WITH

You will work with our Venture and Growth team ($1 Billion strategy) based within the Private Equity department which manages a portfolio of approximately $28.3 billion in global private equity investments. Investments include direct investments in private companies as well as partnerships with leading venture capital and growth equity firms. The portfolio is expected to grow significantly over the coming years, with an increased emphasis on direct investments.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING

You will assist the Venture and Growth team in screening live investment opportunities, summarizing market intelligence, performing financial analysis, and finding ways to enhance the existing portfolio. During this work term, you will:

  • Conduct due diligence for new investment opportunities

  • Assist with the preparation of investment memoranda

  • Review, summarize, and analyze quarterly information for existing portfolio investments

  • Analyze investment performance on an individual and aggregate investment basis

  • Conduct sector research 

  • Assist with special projects

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE & REQUIRED SKILLS

  • Students in an undergraduate business, mathematics, computer science and/or technology program

  • Team players who have the drive to continue learning, excel, and grow in a team oriented and dynamic environment

  • Adventurous students curious about what the West Coast has to offer

  • Has a passion for investing and a drive to continually learn about financial markets and the investment process

  • Demonstrates an extremely strong work ethic and displays initiative to strive to deliver value above and beyond the job description

  • Participates in a student investment club or other investment case competitions

  • Prior experience in investment banking, private equity, equity research, management consulting, corporate development, or accounting is strongly preferred

  • Outstanding academic track record

  • Preference for students who have shown initiative and a passion for venture capital and growth equity

  • Competitive pay: Front Office: $2,665.00 gross bi-weekly + vacation leave paid based on 6% of salary

  • Spend your off hours exploring beautiful Victoria and Vancouver Island

  • Travel: if coming to Victoria for this work term, BCI will provide a fixed-rate travel allowance based on your location

  • All co-ops/internships will need to be completed in person at our Victoria office with the option to work one day per week from home. Please note, some positions are not eligible for hybrid work.
