The Role

View Boston Observation Deck is seeking a dynamic, results-driven Director of Events to lead and grow our private events and catering business at one of the city’s most iconic venues. Located atop the Prudential Center, View Boston offers breathtaking 360° views, elevated hospitality, and a one-of-a-kind setting for corporate, social, and VIP experiences.

This role will be responsible for driving revenue, developing strategic partnerships, overseeing the full sales cycle, and ensuring exceptional client experiences from inquiry through execution. The ideal candidate is a strategic leader with a strong background in luxury hospitality, event venues, or catering sales, and a passion for delivering unforgettable guest experiences.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

· Develop and execute a comprehensive event sales strategy to achieve and exceed annual revenue goals.

· Identify new business opportunities across corporate, social, nonprofit, and international markets.

· Build and maintain a strong pipeline of leads through proactive outreach, networking, and partnerships.

· Collaborate with senior leadership to set pricing strategies, packages, and promotional initiatives.

· Conduct highest-and-best-use and displacement analysis between ticket sales and private events

· Conduct ongoing competitor price and product analyses to ensure proper rate positioning and product offering relative to competition

· Serve as the primary point of contact for high-profile and VIP clients.

· Cultivate long-term relationships with corporate planners, agencies, DMCs, and local partners.

· Represent View Boston at industry events, trade shows, and networking functions.

· Ensure seamless communication and handoff from sales to execution.

· Collaborate on menu development, service standards, and guest experience enhancements.

· Maintain strong partnerships with preferred vendors and caterers.

· Develop and execute a comprehensive catering strategy to achieve and exceed annual event cost savings goals

· Build and maintain external catering relationships, networking, and partnerships.

· Recruit, train, and mentor the event sales and catering teams.

· Set clear goals, KPIs, and accountability standards.

· Foster a high-performance, collaborative, and service-driven culture.

· Conduct regular coaching, performance reviews, and professional development.

· Leverage social media, industry platforms, and tools such as PartySlate to showcase events.

· Perform other duties as assigned by View Boston Management.

QUALIFICATIONS

To perform this job successfully, the candidate must be able to perform each essential duty above at the highest levels. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

· Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to partner effectively with both leadership and property teams

· Proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets.

· Strong existing network within Boston’s corporate and social event community.

· Experience with CRM and event management systems such as Tripleseat.

· Exceptional leadership, communication, and negotiation skills.

· Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-growth environment

Education and/or Experience:

· Bachelor’s degree in hospitality, business, or a related field preferred

· 7+ years of progressive experience in event sales, catering, hospitality, or luxury venue management

· An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.

· Ability to work long and irregular hours may vary due to functions and may include days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.

· Strong skills in forecasting, demand analysis, and pricing strategies to optimize profitability.

· Proficiency in Microsoft Office including excel, revenue management software platforms, ticketing systems.

· Ability to work under limited supervision, and interact with all levels of staff, including management and client representatives.

· Ability to translate data into clear, actionable business decisions
