Trainee Development Advisor - The role:

As a Trainee Development Advisor, you will play a critical role in the efficient and effective operation of the London Trainee Development programme. You will work closely with the local Trainee Recruitment team, London Talent/Diversity Leads, and other business professionals to support the training and professional development of the firm’s future talent.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Trainee Programme Administration:
  • Support the administration of the London Trainee programme ensuring compliance with the Solicitors Regulatory Authority (SRA) standards.
  • Assist with the onboarding, induction, integration, and ongoing professional development training for new trainees.

  • Trainee Rotation Process:
  • Provide support in managing the Trainee rotation process.

  • Trainee Evaluation Process:
  • Liaise with associates and partners to prepare evaluation feedback, schedule evaluations, and prepare summary evaluation packs.

  • Development Meetings:
  • Schedule and conduct Trainee development meetings, offering advice and guidance on career plans, discussing performance, and recording key information. Escalate any concerns to the Trainee Development and Early Careers Manager.

  • Qualification Assessment:
  • Assist in the qualification assessment and placement of trainees as first-year associates following the conclusion of the training contract.

Trainee Development Advisor - what we're looking for:

  • Previous experience of working either within Trainee Development, or within a related HR function, within the legal sector
  • A proven track record of building credibility quickly and developing trusted advisor relationships with senior stakeholders.
  • Experience delivering projects and processes on a cyclical basis
  • Capability to build and maintain strong partnerships with relevant peer groups across an HR function (Recruitment, HR Business Partners, Compensation & Benefits, Employee Relations, Global Mobility, etc.).
  • A commitment to Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DE&I) across all dimensions.
  • An innovative and strategic mindset, unafraid to challenge the status quo.
  • Experience coaching individuals and those with people management responsibilities.
  • A commercial outlook, with experience analysing key metrics to identify potential trends and measure performance, including engagement surveys.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
