Job Overview

Zordi, an innovative AgTech company working to make CEA hyper-scalable, is seeking an experienced operational leader to serve as Farm Operations Manager for their strawberry propagation greenhouse in Oakfield, NY. Zordi is increasing its production capacity, and needs a motivated, proven manager to help run this expanded operation. This individual will manage all farm operations at the site. This individual will work within the Production Department, leading the greenhouse associates, and work closely with the grower to run the farm successfully, ensure proper maintenance, facilitate technology deployment, and care for the entire farm site. 

Primary Focus: Site management and operational efficiency, with direct involvement in crop care execution and verification alongside associates.

Expected hours

• 40-50 hours per week
• Monday to Friday, 7 AM - 3:30 PM (30-minute lunch)
• Saturday or Sunday, half to full day shift
• Holiday shifts

 

Duties & Responsibilities

• System Maintenance: Lead site maintenance efforts, troubleshoot basic site issues, and escalate more complex repairs as needed.
• Record Keeping & Inventory: Maintain accurate records for tracking purposes, including inventory management for inputs and equipment.
• Staff & Operations Coordination: Manage daily operations, overseeing teams responsible for plant care, harvesting, and packing.
• Crop Care Execution & Oversight: Work directly with the Grower to develop crop care plans, then manage farm associates to execute these plans, guiding them through tasks such as pruning, harvesting, and spraying. Verify that work is completed accurately meets quality standards and other KPIs, providing feedback and corrections as needed.
• Hands-On Scouting & Crop Registration: Regularly scout plants alongside associates, documenting crop health and addressing any immediate concerns with the Grower to support timely interventions.
• Food Safety & Compliance: Ensure adherence to food safety standards and maintain a safe work environment for all employees.
• Incorporate Zordi proprietary technology.

 

Requirements

• 3-5 years in greenhouse production, with experience managing teams and shift work.
• Comfortable with manual tasks and direct supervision in greenhouse workflows.
• Comfortable working on Google Suite (Sheets, Words, Forms) etc. and various digital tools.
• Proficient in Spanish & English.
• Knowledgeable across operational and technical matters in greenhouse production.
• Skilled in equipment maintenance (irrigation, HVAC, etc.) and general operational troubleshooting.
• Ability to work in varied conditions, lift 50 lbs, and perform repetitive physical tasks
• Holds Forklift Operator Certification (or must obtain within the first 2 weeks of onboarding).

 

Location Requirement: Reliable commuting to Oakfield, NY is required.
