Job Description

The Strategic Initiatives Lead is a hybrid strategy and execution role designed to accelerate progress on MICC’s most complex, cross functional priorities.

This role is intentionally designed for a high capacity generalist who thrives in ambiguity, can rapidly synthesize diverse inputs, and exercises strong judgment in determining how, where, and with whom to activate ideas. Unlike traditional strategy roles that conclude at recommendation, this position emphasizes end to end ownership—from framing the problem through executional mobilization.

Why this role exists:
As MICC’s work increasingly spans strategy, innovation, and execution, this role addresses a growing gap: dedicated talent focused on turning important ideas into coordinated action. In this role, you will advance high-profile projects that drive customer outcomes and business growth, including but not limited to:
• Growth acceleration initiatives that span marketing, product, distribution, and technology
• Competitive and market positioning efforts that require translating external intelligence into internal strategic action
• Emerging strategic topics where early framing and focused attention can materially shape how the organization responds
• Assessment and shaping of strategic partnership opportunities

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Framing & Synthesis

  • Frame ambiguous, multi‑stakeholder problems into clear hypotheses, decision paths, and workplans
  • Rapidly synthesize insights from internal data, stakeholder input, market intelligence, and external research
  • Apply structured thinking, financial analysis, and scenario evaluation to assess tradeoffs and implications

Strategic Execution & Activation

  • Translate strategic concepts into actionable constructs (e.g., operating models, pilots, governance frameworks, roadmaps) and personally drive early traction by identifying and removing blockers, aligning incentives, and ensuring initiatives survive first contact with the organization
  • Partner with cross‑functional teams to drive initiatives forward, navigating organizational complexity and executional friction
  • Maintain momentum across workstreams by forcing clarity where ambiguity persists, escalating when needed, and resetting scope or approach to protect speed

Cross‑Functional Leadership & Influence

  • Build trust‑based relationships across MICC and adjacent organizations, operating as both thought partner and executional catalyst
  • Navigates organizational dynamics to lead through influence, connect stakeholders, align perspectives and drive decisions
  • Serve as a connective tissue across teams, ensuring coordination without creating additional process burden

Executive Communication & Thought Leadership

  • Develop concise, compelling materials that distill complexity into clear points of view for senior leadership
  • Identify emerging or under-owned enterprise topics where focused leadership and strategic pressure can materially change outcomes
  • Serve as a visible extension of Marketing Strategy leadership in enterprise forums—shaping narratives, framing tradeoffs, and representing a coherent point of view

Preferred Qualifications

Experience

  • 6–10 years of experience in strategy, consulting, or roles requiring structured problem solving and executive engagement
  • Experience operating in matrixed, cross‑functional environments; insurance or financial services experience a plus

Capabilities & Attributes

  • Exceptional ability to operate effectively in ambiguous, fast‑moving environments
  • Strong judgment in determining appropriate activation paths across functions
  • Executive‑level written and verbal communication skills
  • Intellectual agility and curiosity; able to rapidly absorb unfamiliar domains
  • Bias toward action while maintaining strategic rigor and clarity
  • Comfort balancing big‑picture strategy with hands‑on execution
