Elsewhere Entertainment is looking for a Principal Audio Programmer to join our team and help shape the foundation of our next-generation AAA experiences on our new IP.
You will drive innovation developing audio technology for our engine, focusing on performance, scalability, and rapid iteration. You will collaborate with gameplay and design teams in order to push boundaries of what’s possible in games.
You’ll help us…
Serving as the primary audio programmer, working closely with the gameplay and audio teams to develop high-performance audio systems to bring immersive soundscapes to life.
Prepare pipelines and tools that meet both creative and technical requirements for complex audio scenes.
Take ownership of our audio architecture in our technology.
Educate content and engineering teams on best practices for using engine’s audio system.
You’re awesome because you have…
10+ years of experience, or equivalent education/work experience.
Expert knowledge of C++ and development best practices including multi-threading, memory/runtime optimizations, and testing.
Strong experience programming and architecting game audio systems for AAA games.
Excellent knowledge of game audio processing (mixing, compression, 3D positional audio, runtime reflection modelling, etc.).
In-depth understanding of audio differences and trade-offs between PC and consoles.
Vast experience writing and/or extending a game engine.
Strong math skills (linear algebra, trig, etc.).
Ability to make technical decisions in shaping long-term technical vision.
Comfort with self-critique and accepting outside feedback.
Bonus points for…
Proven experience shipping games on multiple platforms.
Proven experience developing audio solutions for open-world games.
Experience with third-party sound engines such as FMOD or Wwise.
Music and/or Sound design experience - composing/arranging, sound design, synthesis, sampling etc.
Working with rapidly evolving code base.
