The Job Details are as follows:

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Data Platform Engineering Manager to lead our Data Platform Engineering group supporting our Hadoop ecosystem. This role encompasses overseeing daily operations, conducting performance reviews, and providing production support. The manager will be responsible for making critical technical decisions regarding data platform technologies and resources. The primary objective is to efficiently utilize staff based on corporate priorities, risk, and return on investment.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Team Leadership: Manage the team supporting multiple Hadoop clusters in a Linux environment, both on-premises and in the cloud.
  • Staff Management: Plan, organize, train, direct, motivate, evaluate, and develop technical staff. Perform administrative duties necessary for ongoing support of the group's activities, including budgeting, staff selection, performance evaluation, progress and time reporting, and other administrative functions.
  • Technical Guidance: Provide technical direction, guidance, and mentoring to staff members.
  • Collaboration: Build and achieve common goals with development and product teams to tune and enhance data platforms and products utilizing data.
  • Infrastructure Liaison: Serve as the liaison to infrastructure teams for compute, storage, and cloud needs.
  • Capacity Planning: Conduct capacity planning across data platform technologies and required infrastructure/cloud services.
  • Technology Roadmaps: Build roadmaps for data platform technologies, including the adoption of new technologies.
  • Project Management: Serve as project manager for data platform initiatives. Identify key components that can be shared enterprise-wide.
  • Consultation: Act as a technical consultant for senior management, technical staff, product teams and project managers.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in managing and architecting infrastructure software components and/or data platform technologies.
  • Previous experience in infrastructure design and support of Linux systems, preferably with Hadoop and/or database technologies.
  • 5+ years of management experience, including managing senior administrators, developers, and architects.
  • Broad exposure to various computer concepts, machine architecture, and analysis and design approaches.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to build consensus across organizational boundaries.
  • Experience with Agile Software Development methodologies.
  • Experience in operational management of enterprise production systems.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Budgeting and financial planning experience at the group level.
  • Project management experience.
  • Experience deploying enterprise application integration technologies.
