UK Head of Medical Affairs, Strategy & Operations – ViiV Healthcare

Job Purpose

The Head of Medical Affairs, Strategy & Operations function:

  • Leads the Medical/Scientific Advisor, Medical Education and Clinical Trials lead team (Office Medical Affairs Team) and is responsible for activities delivery according to plan and process of the team. They contribute to the creation and implementation of the local overall medical/scientific strategy and is responsible for the creation and implementation of the local medical product and portfolio strategy.
  • Is responsible for coordinating the creation, processing and communication of current, product and indication-relevant scientific and medical information by the Office Team.
  • Coordinates the scientific advice/support of the Office Medical Affairs Team for all ViiV internal stakeholders (in particular Marketing / Market Access /Sales) as well as certain service areas of GSK (in particular Clinical Research, Regulatory Affairs, Drug Safety and Medical Information).
  • Is the key partner of the Responsible of the field medical team and work closely to ensure fluid coordination of medical activities and regular insight sharing and KOL plan management
  • Is a point of contact for medical professionals in building and maintaining scientific relationships
  • Works closely with the overall, local and regional Senior Leadership.

In this role you will

  • Participate in the development and implementation of the local medical-scientific overall strategy in cooperation with the local cross-functional brand team as well as in the global medical team and its execution in the UK.
  • Manage office Medical Affairs team members, responsible for the different brand products.
  • Supporting, conception, budgeting, initiation and supervision of national medical-scientific projects, including educational events.
  • Support, Preparation and implementation of investigator meetings for local studies and coordination of study-relevant activities as well as maintaining an overview of study activities in the UK and preparation of materials.
  • Budget responsibility for the projects of the MA team, ensures compliance with ethics and the code of conduct for all actions undertaken, is responsible for validating the medical content of the product communication
  • Participation in national and international congresses and symposia, including transfer of content to the cross-functional teams, cooperation with external experts in the context of clinical trials, advisory boards, symposia and other medical education activities
  • Representation of the Medical UK department in local and, if applicable, European matrix teams

Why you?

Basic Qualifications & Skills:

We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals:

  • Doctor or healthcare background education
  • Good knowledge of clinical trials, methodology and implementation
  • Experience of multiple years in a medical function in the therapeutic field concerned (Manager or Medical Project Manager)
  • Understanding and experience in Medical Affairs space, as a Business Partner, beyond Support Functions
  • Several years’ experience in Pharmaceutical Industry within the Medical Affairs space

Preferred Qualifications & Skills:

Please note the following skills are not necessary, just preferred, if you do not have them, please still apply:

  • PhD, MD
  • Knowledge of the therapeutic area concerned and of opinion leaders
