Job Description Summary:

This position will deliver excellent education to KU Nursing students. This position reports to the BSN Clinical Learning Specialist and the Associate Dean for Academic and Faculty Affairs.

The School of Nursing at the University of Kansas Medical Center seeks nursing personnel to join our progressive and innovative team. This is a temporary position. This position will be responsible for assisting students in clinical settings to meet specific nursing goals.

Job Description:

Required Qualifications

Education/Licensure:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing from an accredited school of nursing

  • Registered Nurse license issued by the State of Kansas or multi-state RN license issued by another Nurse Licensure Compact State

Preferred Qualifications

Education/Certification:

  • Enrollment in a graduate nursing program

  • Board certification or extensive experience in specialty, e.g., OB, mental health, Critical Care, etc.

Work Experience:

  • 2 or more years teaching in an undergraduate and/or graduate nursing program

  • 1 year experience teaching in an undergraduate nursing program

  • Experience technology in virtual and in-person academic environments

Skills:

  • Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds as well as with individuals at various organizational and educational levels

  • Strong organizational, management, and leadership skills

  • Excellent communication skills.

Job Duties Outlined:

  • Guide students in various clinical care areas, including hospitals, clinics, and other healthcare settings.

  • Collaborate with department faculty to ensure alignment with program objectives.

  • Foster critical thinking, analytical skills, communication, and problem-solving abilities among students.

  • Collaborate with nursing faculty to prepare for clinical, lab, and simulation instruction.

  • Enforce appropriate rules and expectations for students in compliance with KUMC policies.

  • Maintain accurate records as required by administrative guidelines and legal standards.

  • Attend scheduled clinical and lab classes.

  • Fulfill other assigned duties as assigned.
