We currently have an opportunity for a Commercial Account Manager to join our team in Balmain, Sydney, Australia, where you will be a key member of the Commercial team, providing account management to our customers amongst a team of highly skilled, experienced and passionate professionals.

What You Will Do

Reporting to the Head of Commercial and a key member of the commercial team, your key responsibilities in this position will include, but not limited to:

Account management:

  • Maintain Strong Client Relationships: Develop loyal and long-term relationships with key decision-makers and influencers within the client organization.
  • Lead Customer Contracting: Take charge of managing the contracting process for assigned accounts, including negotiations, drafting contracts through to contract execution.
  • Internal Alignment: You will be the customer champion internally, problem solving with internal operations teams and sparring with senior leadership as needed.
  • Develop Pricing & Contract Strategies: Leverage data and analytical tools to create and implement pricing strategies and establish contract terms that meet customer needs and company goals.
  • Achieve Business Targets: Drive the successful delivery of agreed-upon targets, including securing new contracts and ensuring smooth contract renewals.

Commercial Strategy

  • Commercial Strategy Development: Contribute to discussions on the strategic direction, as well as the tactical and operational elements of the Commercial function.
  • Drive Profitability: Develop commercial strategies that enhance profitability for existing business while evolving Svitzer’s offerings for the future.
  • Industry Insight & Market Knowledge: Gather industry news and stay informed about customer needs and shipping market trends to better shape business decisions. Regularly provide feedback to management on key developments and their impact to the business.

Projects and Global Priorities

  • Customer Champion: As the customer champion within Svitzer Australia, engage with shore and crews, through relevant forums, communications, and project about our customers.
  • Business Development Participation: Participate in or lead business development initiatives for new ports and long-term contracts or tenders.
  • Lead Short-Term Opportunity Work: Assist in identifying and securing short-term opportunities related to Contract Tow or Emergency Response services.
  • Decarbonization Drive: Collaborate with customers, regional, and global teams to commercialize decarbonization efforts and identify opportunities to reduce CO2 intensity.

Passionate and great with people: here’s who we’re looking for

Qualifications and Experience Required:

  • Tertiary qualifications in business or finance (and a proven track record in a commercial setting.)
  • 4-5 years' experience within a commercial function, especially with key account management.
  • Experience within the maritime industry is preferred, and genuine interest to learn about the towage industry and Svitzer is a must.

You work well within a team environment, leaving egos at the door, and focuses on achieving collective success. Your ability to contribute, share ideas, and support teammates fosters a positive and productive team atmosphere.
