Software Development Engineer II

Are you a highly hardworking, motivated software engineer who loves working on large-scale projects that impact millions of customers? We are in search of someone who enjoys developing with cloud, database, and streaming technologies such as AWS, RDS/DocumentDB, and Kinesis.

The Partner Technologies - Distribution & Supply Tech Inventory team powers the platform for ingesting, storing and distributing the lodging rates and availability data for all Expedia Group brands. We build highly available, scalable and performant distributed systems using the latest technologies in cloud with complete CI/CD and are looking for a dedicated Software Development Engineer II to join our team!

What You’ll Do:

  • Develop, debug, and modify components of software applications and tools

  • Write automated unit, integration and acceptance tests as appropriate to support our continuous integration pipelines

  • Support and troubleshoot data and/or system issues as needed

  • Provide improvements to solutions for a given problem

  • Define, develop and maintain artifacts like technical design or business partner documentation

  • Resolve problems and roadblocks as they occur, follow through on details, and drive issues to closure with help from your peers

  • Actively participate in code and design reviews

  • Participate in user story creation in collaboration with the team

Who You Are:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, mathematics, or a related technical field; or Equivalent related professional experience

  • A minimum of two years (up to five years) of professional work experience in software development in a team environment

  • Experience using code versioning tools (such as Git or others)

  • Experience in Agile/Scrum software development practices

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills with the ability to present complex technical information clearly and concisely

  • Experience in writing transactional web services

  • Experience in JVM technologies, Kotlin or functional programming in an equivalent language a strong plus

  • Experience with AWS (EC2, ECS, S3, Lambda, Aurora, DynamoDB), Redis, Chef

The total cash range for this position in Seattle is $112,000.00 to $156,500.00. Employees in this role have the potential to increase their pay up to $179,000.00, which is the top of the range, based on ongoing, demonstrated, and sustained performance in the role.

Starting pay for this role will vary based on multiple factors, including location, available budget, and an individual’s knowledge, skills, and experience.  Pay ranges may be modified in the future.
