The Role Overview

We’re looking for a strong practitioner to join our team of 40~ Product Designers and User Researchers on a fixed term contract for 12 months in our iconic London building. 

 

As a Senior Product Designer in the Internal Products & Platforms team, you'll be working on an integral suite of tools and applications that support over 600 journalists in writing, editing, and publishing thousands of stories each week. 

 

Collaborating closely with partners in Product Management, Engineering, and Delivery, you'll engage directly with the Newsroom on a weekly basis, gaining valuable opportunities to understand and explore user needs in real time.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead end-to-end design process, from problem-framing and research, ideation and prototyping, to user validation and delivery of polished, high-fidelity designs
  • Carry out discovery activities with product managers and other cross-functional peers and running ideation sessions such as design sprints and/or other workshop formats.
  • Plan and conduct research initiatives to identify high-value opportunities and prioritise based on insights and data
  • Collaborate with engineers to troubleshoot any technical issues that arise during design and development phases, ensuring that the product meets performance and quality standards
  • Contribute to planning, strategy and vision sessions; advocating for the customer, while understanding the overall goals of the customers, product, and business

 

What we’re looking for

  • A passion for designing complex user journeys, attention to detail, and ability to communicate and articulate design decisions effectively to stakeholders
  • A systems thinking approach with a confident understanding of Design Systems and strong commitment to A11Y
  • A UXR advocate, comfortable with conducting your own research, usability testing and synthesising information
  • An expert collaborator who thrives on relationship building and stakeholder management

 

Required Experience 

  • A portfolio that demonstrates strong product thinking, interaction and visual design skills, a thorough process and ultimately meaningful impact
  • Experience and familiarity working on Internal Products and Platforms / CMS’s
  • Experience and knowledge working in Figma and strong prototyping skills
  • An expert in all forms of communication
