Assistant Site Manager

Washington, Tyne & Wear - Sunderland

Salary up to £38,850 per annum

Full time - Permanent Field Based Role with company Van & Fuel card

 42.5hrs per week (Monday-Friday 8:00am-5:00pm)

Due to a new contract expansion, we are now seeking an Assistant Site Manager to join our team working in the Washington, Sunderland area. You will be delivering excellent service and support through our local teams, who understand the importance of working together for the local community.

About the Role:

You will be part of a local team supporting high standard Site Management activities for Planned Works Programmes to Housing properties, delivering best in class customer service and satisfying all safety, quality and cost control standards.

As an Assistant Site Manager your main duties will be to assist in working with subcontractors to establish site set up, health & safety checks, quality control and more. You’ll work with project managers to deliver works on time, advise on any issues identified with materials, resources, quality, and costs and support the commercial team to approve variations and make successful completions.

You will be part of a local team supporting high standard Site Management activities for Planned Works Programs to Housing properties, delivering best in class customer service and satisfying all safety, quality and cost control standards.

Accountabilities

  • Assist on management of the day to day operational delivery of planned work/s contract and all associated staff and ensuring contractual KPI’s targets are achieved and maintained.
  • Support the management and monitoring of work programme progression and completion via ongoing site visits to ensure works are adequately resourced, being effectively delivered to set quality standard and completed on time and within budget.
  • Ensure regular communication with line manager on site progress, advising of issues which may impact / change the contract programme and record as per company standard operating procedure.
  • Assist on management of sub contractors, ensuring compliance and adherence to H&S regulations, Mears standard operating procedures & values, quality assurance accreditations, CDM and the company’s commitment to best practice with legislation, codes of & good working practices relevant to all work activities.
  • Supervise the implementation of work safety plans, method statements, risk assessments and other works procedures ensuring they comply with the relevant documentation Ensure all operatives/sub-contractors are wearing the appropriate PPE at all times during site activities.
  • Ensure the customer experience is central to all activities by adopting a professional manner when communicating with all stakeholders, this includes but is not limited to appearance, company ID, maintaining a high standard of Health & Safety
  • requirements.
  • Follow and support policies, procedures, initiatives and work instructions at all times and keep all supplied company assets in a good condition in line with the company policies, reporting to your Manager where damages occur.
  • Undertake any other duties as required by the company, provide back up to other site managers to cover any absences and attend informal and formal company & client meetings and training sessions as required.

Role Criteria

Essential Skills:

  • Full UK Driving License: Navigate our sites with ease.
  • IT Literate: Confident in using digital tools to enhance efficiency such as PDA
  • Construction/Social Housing Experience: A proven track record in the field.
  • 5 Day SMSTS, and current 1st aid at work – up to date in both certifications.

Desirable Skills:

  • Asbestos Awareness/Working at Height: Prioritise safety and compliance in every project.
  • Domestic Retrofit Experience: Enhance the energy efficiency of homes.
  • Site Manager Experience: Proven ability to oversee complex projects.
  • Project Delivery Expertise: Deliver projects on time and within budget.
  • Renovation Experience in Social Housing: Transform communities with impactful renovations.
  • Risk Assessment and Method Statements: Create and implement comprehensive safety plans.
  • Knowledge of CDM 2015 Regulations: Ensure adherence to industry standards.
  • Scaffolding Inspection: Experience or certificate within desirable.
  • Fire Marshall: Experience or certificate within desirable.
  • IT Skills: Familiar in the use of Microsoft outlook, word and excel.
