The Red Hat Research and Development (R&D) team is looking for an experienced Software Engineer in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa (EMEA) region to join our Identity Management teams. In this role, you will work with an experienced team of software developers to implement new functionality related to digital certificates and Public Key Infrastructure (PKI); these open source technologies are integrated in the Identity Management (IdM) product shipped in Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) as well as the standalone layered product known as the Red Hat Certificate System, for more information see upstream project wiki and upstream Source Code Repository. This is a great opportunity to join an experienced team of PKI and IdM developers and contribute to an established product in the security domain of both corporations and government organizations. Successful applicants must reside in a country where Red Hat is registered to do business.

What you will do

  • In collaboration with other team members, work on implementing enhancements or addressing issues to deliver high-quality solutions around PKI functionality to upstream communities, Fedora, and Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL)
  • Apply your understanding of and experience with good development practices like test-driven development, continuous integration (CI) and continuous delivery (CD), and peer reviews
  • Practice defensive programming to deliver stable and good quality software for Red Hat customers and upstream communities
  • Work across project and technology boundaries to create integrated solutions based on open source projects
  • Communicate with respective development and user communities of the related projects across multiple time zones

What you will bring

  • Experience with Java (J2EE) and python development
  • Experience developing complex multi-component multi-system solutions
  • Troubleshooting or administration skills of services on a Linux platform
  • Good English language skills
  • Experience with PKI, cryptography, and general system and software security technologies is a plus
  • Experience with Agile and Scrum development methodologies e.g. JIRA
  • Experience with CI or CD and related frameworks
  • Experience with hybrid cloud systems or frameworks e.g.  OpenShift, AWS, Microsoft Azure, etc.
