Company Description
Etsy is the global marketplace for unique and creative goods. We build, power, and evolve the tools and technologies that connect millions of entrepreneurs with millions of buyers around the world. As an Etsy Inc. employee, whether a team member of Etsy, Reverb, or Depop, you will tackle unique, meaningful, and large-scale problems alongside passionate coworkers, all the while making a rewarding impact and Keeping Commerce Human.
Salary Range:
$139,000.00 - $181,000.00What’s the role?
As a Strategic Program Manager on the team, you will be responsible for supporting our company’s top priority cross-functional programs that will have a significant impact on Etsy. We view program managers as stewards of the program they support - from ensuring a clear strategy, to building buy-in with the Executive Team, to driving many disparate groups toward outcomes. To succeed in this role you are compelled in equal measure by system or process redesigns as well as strategic analysis and storytelling. Importantly, you’ll be a self-starter with a strong sense of accountability and a keen desire to learn about ecommerce, operations, and more.
This is a full-time position reporting to the Director of Strategy & Operations. In addition to salary, you will also be eligible for an equity package, an annual performance bonus, and our competitive benefits that support you and your family as part of your total rewards package at Etsy.
This role requires your presence in Etsy’s Brooklyn Office once or twice per week depending on your proximity to the office. Candidates living within commutable distance of Etsy’s Brooklyn Office Hub may be the first to be considered. Learn more details about our work modes and workplace safety policies here.
What’s this team like at Etsy?
The Strategy & Operations team drives strategy development and builds systems to enable investment in, accountability for, and teams’ understanding of that strategy. This role is on the Strategy & Operations team supporting the Operations and Marketing Org (COMO), which includes Marketing, Trust & Safety, International, Strategy & Operations, and Customer Support functions.
What does the day-to-day look like?
Partner with the cross-functional program leadership team and sponsor to develop a program strategy (the what and why) that supports the program objectives and is well understood by others.
Establish and maintain a cross-functional governance and operating model (the how, the when, and the who) that clears the path for teams to do their jobs effectively.
Optimize information flows for the program to unlock effective decision-making, collaboration, and information sharing. Proactively adjust your communications to the right audience - leveling up for senior leadership, up to the Executive Team.
Proactively identify gaps in the program’s operations, build lean scaffolding to fix it, and assess your practices to see if they’re suitably effective.
Zoom in and zoom out to see how all the moving parts should tie together, ensuring the program is on track from an execution and strategy perspective. Where there is risk, proactively identify strategies and solutions to ensure the program meets its goals.
Influence without authority. Build credibility and establish relationships with stakeholders at multiple levels, from C-Suite to individual contributor; and be able to guide strategic conversations, decision making, and planning.
Of course, this is just a sample of the kinds of work this role will require! You should assume that your role will encompass other tasks, and that your job duties and responsibilities may change from time to time at Etsy's discretion, or otherwise applicable with local law.
Qualities that will help you thrive in this role are:
7-10 years of experience in program management, business operations, consulting, or a similar role
Outstanding relationship-building and partner management, including with senior-level employees. You are able to influence without authority.
Consistent track record of using systems thinking to create new processes or improve existing ones to help teams focus and minimize waste. Experience managing and developing systems to track metric progress and manage resource allocation preferred.
Sense of strong accountability and ownership over work.
Exceptional verbal and written communication skills. You create clear and concise email communications, and know how to tell a compelling story through slide decks.
Adept at balancing the near-term detailed view (how and when) with the broader long-term view (why and what), and equally interested in both
Experience in ecommerce or marketplace business preferred
A trust in and commitment to Etsy’s vision, mission and values
