Job Details:

Mercer University's Office of Enrollment Management is searching for an Associate Director of Marketing and Communications.


 

Responsibilities:

Under the supervision of the Director of Marketing and Communications, the Associate Director of Marketing and Communications oversees all aspects of workflow strategy and implementation for marketing and communications efforts in support of residential undergraduate admissions and recruitment.

This leader is responsible for development and management of communication touch points along the admissions funnel from prospect campaigns through enrollment onboarding—including development of marketing/communications content for multiple print and digital channels; management of projects and coordination of workflow and production for a variety of print and digital marketing/communications deliverables; management of communication flows targeted at specific prospective-student and stakeholder audiences; and supervision of specialists, graduate assistants, interns, and/or student staff as assigned to support goals, strategies, and tactics of residential undergraduate marketing/communications.

The Associate Director oversees development and ongoing implementation of student search communications strategy and workflow in collaboration with external partners and residential undergraduate admissions/enrollment management leadership, to include build-out of communication flow calendar for all target audiences (prospective students, parent/family members of prospective students, etc.), set-up of digital communications in CRM, and production and distribution of direct mail communications.

The Associate Director may also serve as Marketing/Communications “Slate Captain” for the Enrollment Management team and broader University, serving as a designated point of contact with Technolutions CRM provider and providing internal leadership expertise and training to support advancement of technology adoption across enrollment-related marketing and communications workflows.

This position writes and maintains content for a variety of print and digital deliverables; collaborates on creative concepts; gathers, tracks, and reports on a variety of information and data and makes recommendations to support strategic marketing decisions; assists with event-related initiatives; and performs other duties as assigned. This position also supports management of graphic and creative assets, such as coordinating photo and video sessions or organizing photo, video, and graphic files. This position also supports some central team operational needs, which may include budget/resource tracking.

Qualifications:

- Bachelor’s degree in Technical Communication, Communications, English, Journalism, Marketing, Public Relations, Business, or related field;

- 3 years of experience writing and editing content with a marketing voice for a variety of audiences with the ability to adhere to writing styles/rules (such as APA, MLA, AP, etc.); writing and maintaining compelling and accurate marketing-related content on web-based/digital platforms (such as websites, blogs, emails, social media networks, etc.) and in print collateral/direct mail;
- 3 years of experience successfully managing multiple critical details and tight and overlapping deadlines with accuracy and urgency;
- 3 years of experience managing a combination of multiple print and digital marketing/communications projects tied to measurable, revenue-related goals—such as undergraduate admissions—in a rapidly paced environment while demonstrating successful completion of multiple project simultaneously, coordinating and collaborating with writers, editors, graphic designers, photographers, videographers, printers, mailhouses, etc., to develop and produce content, assets, artwork, and deliverables and while coordinating multiple details and deadlines.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

- Understands the admissions recruitment process from multiple internal points of view for multiple target audiences;
- Demonstrates strong project management, resource management, and time management skills combined with an appropriate sense of urgency, self-motivation, and organizational skills in order to effectively set timelines, map milestones, meet deadlines, prioritize and re-prioritize tasks, and juggle multiple projects and assignments with competing priorities, working both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced and rapidly changing environment;
- Demonstrates ability to identify appropriate audience targets for various campaigns, initiate and maintain the appropriate communication sequence with accuracy, and maintain organized files and assets within a CRM tool; must demonstrate an ability to effectively problem-solve/troubleshoot system needs with partners;
- Demonstrates strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills with ability to identify the needs for shifts in voice, tone, message, etc., to fit a particular audience, medium, and purpose in order to produce quality, compelling content that is free of spelling/grammatical/typographical errors;
- Understands web technology and applications and demonstrates experience developing and maintaining web content in a content management system and in other third-party profile sites;
- Understands social media tools and current communication trends;
- Communicates effectively and proactively with leaders, teammates, and stakeholders in order to promote positive professional relationships and ensure achievement of project milestones and deadlines;
- Demonstrates good judgment in decision-making based on thorough understanding of team goals, priorities, and strategies and proactively seeks guidance or direction in order to effectively and efficiently achieve University goals;
- Demonstrates impeccable and consistent attention to detail, dependability, clear and strategic thinking, and positive attitude under pressure and in rapidly changing situations;
- Ability and willingness to travel on occasion as required for meetings, trainings, and project collaboration
