About the department

As part of the Security and Resilience Control Centre (SaRCC) at abrdn, we provide a coordinated technical security capability, oversee global operations and travellers, and handle customer concerns. Our dedicated team of Controller, Operator, and Specialist ensures the safety of the abrdn estate through the use of Coordinated Technical Security Systems.

About the role

As a Security Control Room Operator, you will support and direct Security Officer personnel, promote effective communication and collaboration, and maintain technical security and building management systems within the SaRCC. Your responsibilities include supporting the training and development of staff, reporting inappropriate conduct, and ensuring adherence to operational processes and procedures. You will play a key role in incident management, prioritising alarms and phone calls, and ensuring a swift and effective response to maintain building security and staff safety.

About the candidate requirements

The successful candidate will bring proven security experience and will be able to demonstrate:

  • Knowledge of Incident Management processes, CCTV, and Intruder Detection Systems.

  • Strong decision-making skills under pressure and the ability to prioritise tasks.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Email.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, particularly in telephone and written communications.

  • Great teammate who is dependable, accountable, and keeps a cool head during challenging situations.

  • Self-motivated with corporate security sector experience.
