GENERAL PURPOSE OF THE JOB:   

 The Tax Analyst supports the Company’s tax compliance, reporting, and planning functions by preparing and reviewing indirect tax filings, assisting with federal and state income tax compliance, and contributing to quarterly and annual income tax provision processes. This role participates in maintaining a strong internal control environment, responding to tax authority inquiries, and performing tax research to support business initiatives and regulatory requirements. The Tax Analyst collaborates cross-functionally with accounting, finance, legal, and external advisors to ensure accurate and timely tax reporting while identifying opportunities for process improvements and operational efficiencies.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Prepares federal and state indirect tax returns including withholding tax, premium tax, franchise tax, sales and use tax and excise tax.
  • Assist with the preparation of federal and state income tax returns.
  • Assist with compiling documentation related to any tax audit requests.
  • Prepare resolutions to any tax correspondence.
  • Prepare complex income tax provisions based on GAAP and STAT financial reporting.
  • Assist with tax research.
  • Assists in evidencing controls and maintain an effective control environment.
  • Assists with other duties and special projects, as needed.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:  

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; plus 0 to 3 years of relevant experience.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, PROFESSIONAL DESIGNATIONS:

Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license is preferred.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: 

  • Analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Understanding taxation of corporations.
  • Ability to conceptualize and execute projects and initiatives through to completion.
  • Ability to perform technical tax research using multiple resources.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills with ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
  • Experience with tax operations and ability to drive process improvement.
  • Strong analytical and planning skills with attention to detail.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with ability to define practical problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with internal teams and external advisors.
  • Strong organizational and time management abilities with capacity to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Travel is not required in this position.
