This position involves working on Electro-Mechanical design of Electric Drive Train components like Inverters, DC-DC Converts etc for Caterpillar machines. The incumbent will work on Mechanical Packaging / Integration of these components for Caterpillar NTI/NPI/ Cost Reduction or Current Product maintenance programs.


 

Skills/Job Duties/Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

  • Perform sheet metal /structure design, design verification (capable to do complex design in Creo).
  • Create Conceptual designs and verify, finalise the concepts applying engineering analytics to decisions.
  • Perform mechanical packaging / Integration of Electrical and power electronics products used in Construction / mining vehicles.
  • Perform clearance / creepage calculations, Thermal management of entire electrical system.
  • Strong knowledge of structural / sheet metal material and techno commercial knowledge for various material and process.
  • Strong knowledge of Static / Dynamic/ CFD / Thermal Analysis and ability to comprehend and apply analysis results into design solutions. 
  • Strong ability to understand end to end material process for structural components.
  • Strong understanding of Sheetmetal manufacturing and DfM.
  • Actively support a prototype, pilot, or production build and perform audit.
  • Perform bolted joint analysis & Creo simulate or equivalent FEA analysis.
  • Good understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing, engineering drawings, manufacturing processes and Machine Bill of Material (BOM).
  • Performs design calculations and accountable for design decisions.
  • Conduct design reviews, Review engineering model, drawings and provide inputs to designers.
  • Research and develop new technology around Electro-Mechanical domain and Power Electronics components.
  • Communicate results to customers, suppliers, team members, and other business units
  • Collaborate effectively with the internal/global team members to achieve project targets.

Required Qualifications:
 

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent.
  • Relevant work experience: 10 - 15 years with Bachelor Degree or 8 - 12 years with Master Degree.
  • Candidates with strong experience working on Electro-mechanical packaging of Power Inverters, DC-DC converters, Electric power modules, PDUs, LV/MV Switchboard/ Switchgear etc will be preferred.
  • Candidates with strong experience in design of Sheetmetal / Structural design will be preferred. 
  • Strong analytical, communication and interpersonal skills is a must.

Relocation is available for this position.
