SCOPE/SUMMARY

The Clinical Research Assistant will support ongoing research projects and help deliver community outreach efforts and initiatives in Ohio to support the delivery of the full continuum of cancer screening, with a focus on lung and colorectal cancer prevention and screening. Community outreach, cancer prevention and screening outreach and education together with evidence-based intervention programs support will be provided. This position will require traveling in Ohio and flexibility to work evenings and weekends. This position will develop engagement tools for cancer screening in the Wexner Medical Center, in the community and related efforts and collect and track data, weekly, for screening participation, including patients screened for colorectal and lung cancers in clinical practice, in the community, and across participating study sites. The RA may be asked to act as the representative of the research program on promoting screening for colorectal and lung cancers as well as cancer-related conditions. The position will also help connect activities of the research program to partners and implement evidence-based cancer screening and prevention initiatives in Central Ohio and other locations as directed.

MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

A bachelor’s degree in public health, education, or related field with emphasis in Community Health or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.  Applicants who have experience in data collection, participant outreach and recruitment (particularly in rural areas), program evaluation, and experience in Community Outreach are preferred. Experience in program implementation is desirable.

Ability to initiate and maintain positive working relationships with stakeholders at the Wexner Medical Center, the community and participating research sites. Review and validate required information in the electronic medical record. Follow SOPs. Effective communication skills, such as listening well, and using language appropriately.
