Data governance and management at TD is part of an enterprise-wide data and analytics ecosystem. Adaptability is key. Enterprise Transformation, Enablement & Customer Experience (TECE) is comprised of various enterprise shared service type functions that support the organization in various domains such as, but not limited to, Marketing, payments & transaction processing, contact centre services, collections and recovery, data and analytics, enterprise change, automation and process engineering.    

 

Job Description: 

 

This Senior Manager role will report into the Associate Vice President, TECE Governance & Control, and have responsibility to oversee data governance and management compliance for a subset of the business areas within this department and for the direction of day-to-day data governance and data management activities, for a key function or line of business. As such, a successful incumbent will have the ability to inspire and influence team members, business colleagues and various stakeholders to achieve this goal to support our business lines in mitigating data related risk.

As a Senior Manager, Data Steward, you will: 

·       Provide people management leadership by hiring the best talent, setting goals, developing employees, managing performance and stimulating teamwork 

·       Lead and manage a team of data experts and overall operation of a diverse group in an area of moderate risk, complexity and scope 

·       Lead the team in the implementation of enterprise data risk policy and standard(s) requirements as an oversight function, including risk-based validation

·       Manage the overall data governance oversight function for a key business which may include Data Governance and / or Data Management roles 

·       Grow talent, by developing skills and capabilities in line with evolving trends in the data governance space, to help achieve team member career goals, support project success and achieve business results 

·       Help build and deploy the strategic direction of the data governance/management oversight function within your line of business 

·       Act as a strategic partner by leading relationships with key enterprise partners and with leadership team to clarify scope, align, influence and effectively manage assigned data governance / management area 

·       In particular, leading the team to partner closely with Data Owners, Technology and other data / business subject matter experts (SMEs), as well as other G&C teams to drive the successful implementation of the LOBs Data Strategy for data initiatives.  

·       Support Data Owners to achieve compliance to Enterprise Data Risk Policies & Standards across new/existing data process, projects, and changes  

·       Support Data Owners to understand impacts of data change and value of data related programs and requirements to mitigate data risk 

·       Support Data Owners through the ongoing identification, review and management of their business critical data through appropriate data management controls (i.e. quality, metadata, lineage, etc.)  

·       Support Data Owners to establish, review and maintain ongoing data retention/deletion processes  

·       Complete key data related courses as mandated by Enterprise Data Risk Management

·       Undergraduate degree or technical certificate 

·       Seven (7) or more years relevant experience 

·       Ability to stay on top of emerging issues, trends and risks, including evolving regulatory requirements on Data Management

·       Skill in using software tools, applications, data analysis methods 

·       Ability to work multi-functionally, communicate positively and professionally in both spoken and written form, provide assistance or guidance to other team members and build positive relationships across teams and functions
