OVERVIEW:

The ideal candidate for this role is skilled in bicycle/snow equipment mechanics and dedicated to completing assignments and projects to meet the high standards of quality for our Public Lands explorer. The Retail Bike & Snow Technician is responsible for building, maintenance, inspection, and the repair of all product purchased, rented, and serviced through the Public Lands service department for all Bike and Snow Sports. In addition, the core responsibilities within the shop, the Technician is expected to be fully trained in sales and register functionality to help deliver the elevated experience explorers expect when visiting our Public Lands destination. 

  • Assembles, maintains, and repairs action sports equipment (bike/snow) meeting the needs of the explorer and in accordance with company and vendor standards. 

  • Assist with everyday services, including but not limited to: 

  • Bike: minor to advanced repairs; This includes but is not limited to repairing/replacing parts; fitting accessories (lights, pannier racks or cycle computers), routine safety checks; cleaning, degreasing and lubricating bicycles and components, etc. 

  • Ski/Snow: mounting bindings, base services, sharpening edges, waxing, brushing, polishing and preparation and detuning tips/tails. 

  • Diagnose faults, damage, and wear to give accurate estimates to customers, and educating them on and whether repairs are essential or recommended. 

  • Assemble new equipment and partner with lead to perform quality checks before handing off to the explorer. 

  • Understands explorers’ behavior, can successfully assess needs and recommend product/service meets those specific needs. 

  • Support Company standards of selling and customer service by providing a friendly environment, including greeting, and acknowledging every customer and maintaining solid product knowledge. 

  • Assist and recommend explorers with the purchase of Bike and Snow Accessories as needed. 

  • Identify and inform management of ways to improve shop workflow, growing productivity while maintaining or improving quality of services. 

  • Preserving complete and accurate shop records and maintaining record keeping systems 

  • All other tasks assigned by management.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Flexible availability – including nights, weekend, and holidays. 

  • Prior retail sales experience (or customer-focused experience) preferred. 

  • Ability to stand, bend, stoop, reach, push, pull and lift 15 to 35 lbs. items occasionally (up to 25 times per hour). 

  • Ability to work extended periods of time (up to 4 hours) standing or walking. 

  • Ability to work at heights greater than 4 feet with use of a ladder, aerial lifting device, or platform.

  • Ability to perform repetitive motions for short periods of time (up to 2 hours continuously).
