Main Purpose

The Analyst works in Trafigura’s Research Team, providing daily support to Trafigura’s trading desks and strategic planning and business development efforts.

The Analyst will review the markets objectively and timely to provide insight to the Crude Traders on tactical and investment opportunities for the Group.

The Analyst will be analyzing and evaluating fundamental, macro and market information with a logical and intellectual approach in order to provide regular and ad hoc analysis to aid Crude Traders decision making process in short-term trading environments.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • 2-5 years’ experience providing fundamentally based analysis on Crude Oil to various stakeholders.

  • Knowledge of Eastern Europeans and Asian (Singapore) Crude market.

  • Detailed technical understanding of the Crude Oil markets.

  • Experience in the commodity trading industry especially in Oil Trading.

  • Strong technical skills such as Tableau, SQL, Python.

  • Experience in designing, improving, automating, handling workflows and visualization boards is advantageous.

  • Bachelor’s degree and/or equivalent experience in statistics, mathematics, engineering, finance or economics.

  • Proficient in English. Proficient in Chinese/Mandarin is beneficial.

Key Responsibilities

  • Working closely with Asian Crude desk & traders, to deliver insightful and timely crude market fundamentals information including information on demand, supplies, flows, inventories, pricing and refining values.

  • Model short-term regional crude balances, bottoms-up granular approach and reporting commercially relevant implications to trading desks.

  • Relaying analysis outputs into price actions and challenging/forming trading views.

  • Deliver daily and weekly analysis reports on relevant crude markets timely.

  • Work closely with data science & engineering teams on automating in-house crude analytics and driving data driven decisions.
