Location: Carlisle
Working Hours: 30
Contract Type: Permanent
Salary: £24,243 - £28,930

Make a real difference in your community

Are you passionate about helping others live safer, healthier and more independent lives?
Join Waythrough, one of the UK’s leading mental health and social support charities, and make a lasting impact every day.

About the Role

Are you caring, flexible, and creative? Do you thrive under pressure and enjoy helping others live independently? If so, we’d love you to join us as a Community Recovery Worker.

In this rewarding role, you’ll support individuals with mental health needs to manage their own wellbeing, develop life skills, and build independence within the community.

What You’ll Do

  • Manage your own caseload of key clients, working collaboratively to create person-centred support plans focused on meaningful and achievable goals.

  • Help people develop and maintain life skills, including budgeting, tenancy sustainment, and accessing public services.

  • Support individuals to engage with work, leisure, or education opportunities that promote confidence and wellbeing.

  • Liaise effectively with external agencies, including community mental health teams and adult social care, to ensure coordinated, holistic support.

  • Promote a positive image of the service within the local community.

This is a lone working role, so you’ll need to be confident working independently and have a full UK driving licence.

You’ll also work towards achieving a Level 3 qualification in Health and Social Care, fully supported by the organisation.

We know that recovery looks different for everyone, but with the right support at the right time, it’s possible for all. That’s where you come in.

To Succeed in This Role, You’ll Need:

  • A caring and compassionate nature

  • Empathy, enthusiasm, and flexibility

  • The ability to build positive relationships with people from all backgrounds

  • Confidence to work independently while being a strong team player

Experience or understanding of mental health issues, or lived experience, would be an advantage.

You’ll also need to:

  • Hold a full UK driving licence

  • Be willing to take part in a weekly rota and be available for on-call duties when required
