Role Overview
As an HVAC System Intern, you will assist with installation, troubleshooting, preventative maintenance, and commissioning support for HVAC equipment and related field work.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with HVAC system installation, startup, troubleshooting, commissioning, and preventative maintenance.
- Support testing and verification of HVAC equipment, sensors, and related components.
- Help diagnose basic mechanical and electrical issues under supervision.
- Work with hand tools, power tools, and basic test equipment as needed.
- Document work completed and share updates with the team.
- Support as-built updates and other job closeout tasks.
How You Will Do It
- Work under direct supervision and use feedback to build safe, consistent field habits.
- Stay close to the work by checking equipment step by step and confirming system behavior.
- Communicate clearly with your team when you need support or when progress changes.
- Take ownership of safety, accuracy, and follow-through on every task.
- Learn as one team, ask questions, and apply practical problem-solving to daily work.
Qualifications
- Current enrollment in a technical school, diploma program, associate degree, or related study in HVAC, mechanical, electrical, or a similar field.
- Basic understanding of HVAC systems, electrical concepts, or mechanical components.
- Interest in hands-on field service, installation, and maintenance work.
- Ability to follow instructions, work safely, and pay attention to detail.
- Good communication skills and a collaborative attitude.
- Willingness to learn from experienced technicians and mentors.
Nice to Have
- Coursework or exposure to building controls, sensors, actuators, or commissioning work.
- Experience using hand tools, power tools, or basic test equipment.
- Interest in energy efficiency, comfort, and smart building solutions.
