About the Role:

The Principal AI Data Engineer is a senior individual contributor responsible for the hands-on design, build, and operation of enterprise-scale AI-driven data platforms. This role owns architecture, development, reliability, scalability, and performance of AI data systems, with a strong focus on Snowflake, LLM integrations (Gemini, Glean, Agentforce, etc.), and modern cloud-native architectures supporting real-time and batch workloads.

As a technical authority, this role drives the implementation of trusted, production-ready AI capabilities across the enterprise, partnering closely with engineering, AI/ML, and business teams while remaining deeply hands-on in solution delivery.

What You'll Do:

  • Design, build, and operate AI-ready data platforms leveraging Snowflake and cloud-native services

  • Architect and deliver conversational Data & AI Assistants integrated with Slack, Gemini, and enterprise systems

  • Partner closely with data analysts and business SMEs to translate business questions into reliable data products and AI experiences

  • Design and implement LLM-powered integrations and RAG-based data access patterns

  • Ensure availability, performance, scalability, and resiliency of data, analytics, and AI platforms

  • Define and implement operational standards including support models, SLAs, escalation paths, and incident lifecycle processes

  • Serve as a technical leader and mentor, setting engineering best practices and raising the bar across teams

  • Collaborate with data engineering, AI/ML, cloud, security, product, and business stakeholders

  • Champion SRE, DevOps, and FinOps best practices through hands-on implementation and guidance

What You'll Need:

Technical Skills:

  • Snowflake (including Snowpark and Snowflake Intelligence AI/ML integrations)

  • Cloud platforms (AWS preferred)

  • LLM platforms and tools (Gemini, Glean, Salesforce AI, or similar)

  • RAG architectures, embeddings, vector databases, and semantic search

  • Modern data stacks (dbt, orchestration frameworks, batch and streaming pipelines)

  • AI/ML platforms (Gemini, SageMaker, Bedrock, or equivalent)

  • Infrastructure as Code (Terraform) and CI/CD pipelines (GitLab)

  • Observability, incident management, and reliability engineering

Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of experience in data engineering, AI platforms, or cloud-native systems

  • 5+ years operating as a senior or principal-level individual contributor

  • Proven experience building and operating enterprise AI and data platforms at scale

  • Strong background in production operations, SRE, and platform reliability

  • Demonstrated ability to lead complex technical initiatives through influence rather than direct people management

  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage technical and non-technical stakeholders

Bonus Points:

  • Experience working for a SaaS security company
