What You’ll Do

Responsible for assisting in the design of the wireless networkResponsible for deploying and maintaining the wireless infrastructure. This role requires an understanding of wireless technologies, strong leadership skills, and the ability to work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure solutions that align with business needsKnowledge of Cisco Wireless toolsKnowledge of RTLS tools in a wireless environmentWorks under general supervision. 

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and implementation of the wireless technology roadmap, aligning with business goals and industry best practices. Stay current of industry trends and emerging technologies in the wireless spaceResearch, evaluate, and recommend new and emerging wireless tools and technologies. 

  • Leadership/Team Skills-Design and implement scalable, secure, and reliable wireless solutions, including wireless controllers, wireless access points, wireless endpoints, mobile communication devices, RTLS devices, etcOversee the integration of wireless devices with existing IT infrastructure and applicationsParticipates as a leader and as a team memberValues and integrates ideas of others.  

  • Schedule Awareness/Commitment to Task- Completes all assigned tasks within the time and budget allocationPromptly informs supervisor of any significant events that would result in schedule delaysProvides expert technical support for wireless systems, troubleshooting issues, and resolving incidents escalated by team members.   Upgrade/swap equipment for appropriate lease cycles and work with supervisor on budget needs. 

  • Monitor system performance and optimize for optimal user experienceCompletes or assists with new equipment set up, connections, granting access to resources on the network, troubleshooting and analysis of wireless devices and network hardware. 

  • Product/Customer Support-Is sensitive to the needs of internal and external customersResponds in a timely manner and treats customers with respectInteracts and communicates with the IT Support Center in a timely, effective, and professional manner.  

  • Performs off-hours maintenance including taking wireless hardware down periodically and applying software updatesCoordinates these recommendations and changes with the Supervisor, appropriate Network Engineers, and appropriate usersSubmits appropriate change management requests for any changes made.   

  • Collaborate with IT team on various projects to enhance wireless infrastructureDocument wireless networks and maintain accurate records of configurations and changes. Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation for wireless systems. 

  • Design and deployment of wireless networks, including site surveys and equipment selectionSupport the configuration and optimization of wireless devices to ensure optimal performance and coverageConduct testing and troubleshooting of wireless systems to identify and resolve issues. 

  • Works closely with IT Security to ensure appropriate security configurations and standards are in place, and exceptions are documentedAssists IT Security in performing risk and vulnerability assessments on wireless network devices and ensuring security measures are appropriate and effective. 

  • Documents tasks/incidents in the task tracking system which includes details of processes, solutions, and time required to complete the taskUtilizes and updates asset management system to track Health System assets.   

Requirements 

  • 1 year Freeman IT experience or 1 year external advanced IT experience. 

  • Clean driving record. 

  • Current driver’s license. 

Preferred Requirements 

  • CCST or CCNA certification.
