Job Description

With AI changing how we work, Capital Markets Technology (QTS) has embarked on major transformation programs across various functional pillars including pre-trade, trade processing, risk, data intelligence and operations across asset classes globally. In this role you will provide pivotal technical architecture leadership including defining technology direction, standards, and creating reference implementations as required by major programs. The role involves working closely with senior business and technology stakeholders. The position is Associate Director level, based out of the Toronto or Halifax office and involves working closely with teams all over the world.

WHAT WILL YOU DO?

  • Drive strong technology standards / patterns / practices across high priority QTS business deliverables

  • Develop code to support reusability, standards and patterns such as authentication libraries, UI high volume data patterns, etc.

  • Analyze internal and external software solutions in areas such as caching, messaging, data stores, AI, etc. and develop detailed technical & functional usage guidelines along with standardized deployment and product usage patterns

  • Contribute to the inventory of current state technology usage and create target state technology standards.

  • Govern technology usage on a go forward basis to ensure alignment to standards

  • Formulate overall technology strategy in collaboration with Enterprise Architecture including keeping on top of emerging technology trends

WHAT DO YOU NEED TO SUCCEED?

Must-have

  • 5+ years of experience developing horizontal technology solutions

  • Hands-on technology design and implementation experience with use cases involving:

    • Ultra-low latency technology, i.e., messaging, caching, garbage collection, etc.

    • High volume technologies, i.e., fan out, market data aggregation, etc.

    • Data stores, i.e., data lake, NoSQL, SaaS, full text search, etc.

    • UI technologies, i.e., html5, react, angular, next.js

    • Cloud / container platforms

    • Dev ops pipeline / tooling

    • General architecture principals including resilience, scalability, security, extensibility, etc.

  • Strategic and critical thinking when considering architecture and implementations

  • Excellent interpersonal skills to work across functions and businesses

Nice-to-have

  • Exposure to AI technologies – agent frameworks, RAG, etc.

  • Broad Capital Markets technology domain experience, i.e., OMS / EMS, RFQ engines, Algo Frameworks, Market Connectivity, Trade Processing, Settlement

  • Ability to facilitate between and influence key decision makers

  • Experience transforming technology across siloed technology stacks
