Job Description Summary:

The Food Service Worker II is responsible for food preparation, assisting catered events, and general customer service and cashiering responsibilities. Responsibilities may include any one or all of the following tasks: Food preparation, hot or cold, cleaning, sanitizing, and maintaining orderly appearance of equipment and work area, general cashiering functions to include socially interacting with customers, handling customer service needs and issues, operating cash register and following all cash handling guidelines. Required to perform job duties in compliance with regulatory and operation standards.

Minimum Qualifications:

No Degree or Diploma (Required)
  • One to three months related experience and/or training; or Equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Two years hot food preparation experience
  • At least one year cashier/food handling, or related  experience

SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE: 

  • Safe and sanitary food handling techniques
  • Preparation of hot food items in large volume 
  • Proper use of convection ovens, grills, braises, fryers, etc.
  • Creative food garnishing techniques.
  • Ability to count money
  • Ability to communicate clearly in English
  • Basic math and basic computer skills.



RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

Prepares and cooks hot and/or cold foods for patients and retail customers according to production sheets. Preparation includes washing, cleaning, peeling, slicing, and processing large quantities of fresh fruits and vegetables, meats, and cheeses. Performs cooking procedures necessary for baking, frying, grilling, etc. Accurately follows standardized recipes for in-house production. Proper use of equipment to include ovens, grills, braiser, fryers, choppers, slicers, etc.

Responsible for following safe food handling practices, maintaining cleanliness, sanitation and order of work area and equipment. Notifies supervisors of equipment malfunctions, and food preparation problems. Performs basic housekeeping duties & maintains clean attractive area. Relieves and trains other positions as assigned. If selling food or beverages, responsible for menu planning, ordering, and preparation of product.

Cashiering. Completes opening and closing procedures. Balances cash register, completes deposit slips, makes deposits, assumes accountability for cash balance in drawer on shift, and records daily transactions. Receives cash from customers, deposits in cash register and makes change. Follows check identification procedures. Maintains adequate change stock from petty cash. Processes charges: VISA, MasterCard, Discover, American Express, store charges.

: Processes over-rings, refunds, pay outs with the approval of the Supervisor in charge. May be required to price merchandise correctly from invoices, stocks, and arranges areas. Obtains necessary stock.

: Works independently to take customer orders and prepare special orders. Interacts socially with customers to develop a "clientele" of repeat business. Address customers concerns and requests in a timely manner.
