  • Architect scalable, high-performance solutions, while ensuring security, reliability, and optimal user experience.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product management, design, and other engineering teams, to define and deliver features that meet both business and technical needs.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues, providing innovative, scalable, and high-performance solutions.
  • Write and maintain high-quality, testable, and efficient code while ensuring that code reviews maintain high standards of development practices.
  • Contribute to and influence technical strategy and architecture, setting the long-term vision for the product and its infrastructure.
  • Continuously optimize the reliability, scalability, and performance of the platform through proactive problem-solving and design improvements.
  • Provide leadership in design and architecture discussions, mentoring engineers, and helping to elevate the team’s technical capabilities.
  • Take ownership of large technical projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within scope, and aligned with business objectives.
  • Participate in rotating on-call support, providing expertise in troubleshooting production issues and supporting critical systems.

What You’ll Add to DigitalOcean:

  • A degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Expertise in one or more modern programming languages (e.g., Go, Python, Ruby, Java), with a deep understanding of data structures, algorithms, and software design principles.
  • Extensive experience designing, building, and maintaining large-scale, cloud-native systems and infrastructure.
  • Proven experience in architecting and deploying production systems that are highly scalable, reliable, and secure.
  • Deep knowledge of API design, web services architecture, microservices, and distributed systems.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse, cross-functional teams.
  • A deep commitment to writing high-quality, maintainable code, and setting best practices across the engineering organization.
  • A strong understanding of testing principles and the ability to implement comprehensive testing strategies.
  • Passion for mentoring and coaching engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence and continuous improvement.
  • In-depth knowledge of agile development practices, CI/CD pipelines, and iterative development cycles.
  • Strong experience with advanced database concepts, such as sharding, indexing, and performance optimization.
  • Familiarity with observability and monitoring tools, such as Prometheus, Grafana, or ELK Stack, for system health and performance tracking.
  • Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, or similar technologies.
  • Expertise with containerization and orchestration tools, such as Kubernetes and Docker.
