What does a Software Development Engineer do at Workday?
Design and implementation of features and components in a team oriented environment.
Experience delivering high-performance, high-throughput, highly scalable solutions.
Collaborate with team members by white-boarding and working through ideas with constructive collaboration from the rest of the team and vice-versa.
Drive continuous improvement to ensure a high-quality service.
Collaborate closely with product managers to understand customer needs and translate them into software requirements and execution plans.
Share knowledge via mentoring, reviewing code, reviewing design docs or giving technical talks.
Be an enthusiast of our technologies and products. Influence and collaborate across functional teams in coming together towards a common business goal and data architecture

About You
7+ years of software engineering experience
5+ years of distributed systems engineering experience applying one or more of the following: Java, Kotlin, Golang, Scala
Proficiency with major development tools like git/ Docker/ Gradle, Jenkins etc
Experience building scalable data pipelines and new tools/API integrations to support continuing increases in data volume and complexity
Solid understanding in distributed computing and multi-cloud concepts and architecture using AWS, GCP
Expertise in containerization technologies(e.g. Docker, Helm, Kubernetes, etc.)
Experience in designing and building large scale, fault-tolerant and resilient distributed systems.
Strong communication/organizational skills and ability to balance multiple priorities.
A mentality of continuous improvement, with a passion for quality, scale, and security in software development
Good team interaction with good oral and written communication skills
Ability to work independently and in startup-like environments
Adaptable and resilient, able to handle changing priorities and challenges
BS or higher degree in Computer Science or Software Engineering or a related field
