Job Summary

Supervises the daily operations of the mailroom by providing rapid handling and accurate delivery of mail throughout the agency at a minimum cost.

Major Tasks, Responsibilities, and Key Accountabilities

  • Provides leadership and supervision for all mailroom personnel, including mail center, receptionist, and switchboard as well as responsible for conference room scheduling and setup.
  • Supervises day to day activities of mailroom support staff. Maintains and coordinates occupancy and space management.
  • Oversees mailroom responsibilities and coordinates the activities of support roles.
  • Monitors performance, absence and time keeping, ensuring timesheets are completed in a timely fashion of direct reports.
  • Ensures that all agreed service levels and service standards are met.
  • Coordinates processing mail and printing requests in an efficient and timely manner.
  • Ensures proper maintenance and repair of mailroom equipment.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Leads a group or team of support, craft, or lower-level professional associates.

Work Environment

  • Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.
  • Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rate occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles.
  • No travel required.

Education and Experience

  • Typically requires BS/BA in a related discipline. Generally, 5+ years of experience in a related field. May require certification. Advanced degree may offset less experience in some disciplines.
