The Digital Modernization Sector at Leidos is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Linux Systems Engineer to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the advanced administration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) systems in a fully remote work environment. This role requires deep technical expertise, a proactive approach to problem-solving, and the ability to lead complex projects. As a Senior Linux Systems Engineer, you will work closely with other IT professionals to ensure the stability, security, and optimal performance of our RHEL-based infrastructure.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • System Administration: Manage and maintain RHEL servers, ensuring optimal performance, reliability, and security.  Provision and manage systems using Satellite and Ansible

  • Collaboration: Work collaboratively with other IT teams and departments to support business objectives and ensure seamless operations.

  • Troubleshooting and Support: Provide Tier 3 support for complex technical issues, including diagnosing and resolving hardware, software, and network problems. 

  • Security: Implement and manage security measures, including patch management, firewalls, and access controls, to protect systems against vulnerabilities and threats.

  • Automation and Scripting: Develop and maintain scripts and automation tools to streamline system management tasks and improve efficiency.

  • Monitoring and Performance Tuning: Monitor system performance and utilization, and perform tuning and optimization to ensure peak system performance.

  • Documentation: Maintain comprehensive documentation for system configurations, processes, and procedures.

Basic Qualifications:

  • In-depth knowledge of RHEL operating systems.

  • Experience with configuration management tools (e.g., Satellite, Ansible, Puppet).

  • Proficiency in a scripting language (e.g., Bash, Python, perl).

  • Familiarity with virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, KVM).

  • Understanding of networking concepts and protocols (e.g., TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP).

  • Experience with Red Hat Satellite for system management.

  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in Linux system administration, with a focus on enterprise environments.

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field and 8-12 years of prior relevant experience. Relevant certifications (e.g., RHCSA, LPIC-2) are highly desirable. Specific experience, education and training may be considered in lieu of degree.

  • SSCP or Security+ required.

  • Currently possess an active Secret security clearance or higher.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Elastic Stack (Elasticsearch, Logstash, Kibana), Kafka.

  • Familiarity with containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).

Pay Range:

Pay Range $87,100.00 - $157,450.00
